I picked points but would have covered witha late round stoppage, I think this is a stamina exercise for Oscar and wont be looking for any early round stoppages I think he will slower his work rate and try and pick Forbes off then may try and put on a show at the end, but I think Forbes may just have a good enough chin to survive the 12.
Speaking of school, you need to go back because your comprehension skills suck. I'm not saying he is great because he was on the Contender. I referenced the Contender show because you said he lost 2 of his last 3. Well, one of those losses came on the series where he was fighting above his weight and at a ridiculous size disadvantage. The second loss was a robbery against Demetrius Hopkins. What was Hopkins record when Forbes boxed his ears off? 25-0 How many titles have you won to be calling Forbes a joke? This mismatch is a joke, but Forbes is a solid fighter at 140 and below where he belongs.
Brown was alot better then. He hung in tough with Jesus Chavez,Angel Manfredy and Diego Corrales. He beat Robbie Peden whos known for twice brutally stopping Nate Campbell and he also stopped Gabriel Ruleas.
Forbes was chosen by Oscar because of his style (preparing for Floyd) and not because of his record or past achievements. Also boxing insiders know that since it's hard to hit Stevie clean (who was never been stopped), this fight looks like a nice, live, intensive sparring match for De La Hoya, who better be in tip-top shape - to win a clear decision without problems. Oscar still fought only 3 times in the last 3,5 years and he's already 35, so I think a "tune-up" fight is legitimate at this stage of his career, especially if he wants to retire with a big one at the end of the year. My prediction is DLH on points, 117-111 or something like that, but it would be a big win if he could stop Forbes - which I don't see happening. On the other hand, I don't see what Stevie can do to pull off an upset... a Nate Campbell-like performance and an old, shot De La Hoya would be his only chance, but the simple logic tells otherwise. But if he can go 12 with the Golden Boy, there's nothing to be ashamed of, and winning a few rounds would be just great for his career. I'm maybe one of the very few De La Hoya fans here, so I hope that Stevie will put on an A+ performance, but I'm going to root for Oscar!
You know what's funny people said the same things before the Cotto/Gomez fight saying how Gomez has been in there with much larger guys like Mora and Manfredo and that he has never been knocked down, and also Gomez has good boxing skills. people this is Cotto vs. Gomez part 2. ODLH by 6th round TKO.
