Benitez easily. Defensive boxers have no problem with Oscar

Past prime cocaine Whitaker easily won 8-4 against prime Oscar but got robbed.
Floyd won 8-4 but one judge was stupid enough to give Oscar the win

Oscar was like calzaghe hopkins. Throw a lot of punches. Hit absolutely nothing. Hope the judges are foolish enough to give the win on pure workrate

 

Prime for prime, i think Oscar wins, Oscar was the physically stronger guy with a better chin, i think he puts enough rounds in the bank early on, and wins a close but unanimous decision.

Chavez was well past his prime, and Camacho was a bum with maybe 2 solid wins in 90 fights

 

I have to agree that Chavez was past his best and Camacho, while no bum, defined himself as un special with the Haugen and Pazienza wins and losses. The earlier Oscar wins over Ruelas, Hernandez, and Gonzalez at lower weights were all big time victories however which some have forgotten. At welter he was a run of the mill champion. Oscar would take an early lead against Wilfredo but Benitez would start finding the range and take it home for a close win.

 

Benitez, and it wouldn't be close. Oscar would be completely lost in there.

Benitez wins by a whisker, and he would have to be at his best, or Oscar can steal this with a knockdown, or late round flurry.

Camacho wasn't a bum, he just started declining around 1988 a full four years before he faced Chavez.

 

I disagree. Oscar had serious problems with a past his prime Pernell Whitaker. Prime 147 lb. Benitez possessed the kind of slickness to make Oscar miss and he was stronger than 147 lb. old Whitaker.

 

I like De La Hoya in this fight I feel he'd be able to score enough points with his flurries to win a decision but it would be interesting to see him go 15 rounds because he always struggled with going 12.

 

I find it somewhat hard to make any ****ysis when it comes to match ups involving Oscar, because I have no idea how he would have fought. Was he a boxer, a slugger or a swarmer? The guy seemed to change style every few fights. I think he had the tools to beat Benitiez, but Im not sure he would have been able to use them to his advantage. Benitez is used by some as an example of wasted talent, be that as it may, but he was always a very clever fighter in the ring. Oscar on the other slugged with the guys he could have outboxed and boxed the guys he should have walked down. I think the tricky Benitez would make him fight his fight and sneak a close decision.

 

Benitez wins a 15 rounder...and I don't think Oscar would do particularly well over the 15 round distance...9 to 6 in rounds.
