Oscar De La Hoya was overrated

Oscar's problem with Sturm and Hopkins (who, in any case, was a superior fighter to Golden Boy, an ATG and one of the best middleweights in history) was mainly that DLH wasn't a middleweight. He fought two fights in that division, earning a highly controversial win and a knockout loss. When he returned two years later, in 2006, as a super welterweight, a division more suited to him, he defeated Mayorga by stoppage.

Oscar's loss to Mayweather is not controversial. Both AP and ESPN's Dan Rafael scored the fight 116-112 for Mayweather. And I think what Dan Rafael (a journalist who knows boxing very well) said was absolutely right: "There were some close rounds, but Mayweather was the clear winner."

Oscar obviously put in a very good performance against Mayweather (which he didn't do against Sturm and Hopkins), considering he was facing one of the greatest boxers of all time.

The verdict of the first Mayweather-Castillo is highly controversial in my opinion, I think Castillo clearly won that fight. I also give Floyd credit for immediately granting a rematch and for deservingly winning that fight.
