why does he get so underrated, he fought anybody in front of him is a 6 division world champion and even in the amateurs was a beast so why does he get so overrated?

I feel oscars career in the 90's is underrated, but he is only a 5 division champion.

It's what i call the flock mentality that kicks in when people discuss Oscar.

Too-high expectations after medaling, pretty boy image, soft ***gy gringo voice, became kind of a sleazy businessman and forgot the barrio, perceived as "always falling short on the biggest stages when it mattered most", mainly because a few idiots keep repeating it loudly enough...:conf

I agree, excellent fighter - one of his generation's best - whose early resume gets underrated by people who only know him from when he was essentially washed up and only boxing part time.

DLH vs. Mosley at 135 is maybe top three among "missed FOTD opportunities". :deal

I'm an Oscar fan. But when you have a treamendous list of great fighters that you fought and your best win in Fernando Vargas, you will be rated as such.

The notion that Oscar didn't perform on the biggest stage is a myth in my eyes:

Very unlucky on 2 occasions to not have got the nod against Tito and Mosley. This was the judges perception rather than Oscar's performance.

Beat prime Quartey, Vargas, Mayorga, Genaro Hernandez (and a slew of other B+ guys).

Gave an excellent fighter like Mayweather one of his toughest and closest fights while being a little past his prime.

Oscar wasn't unbeatable and often fought guys his own level wich naturally resulted in some fights going against him. I wouldn't say he underformed on the big stage though.
