http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleid=427826 I timed Oscars movements, said Fernandez. Freddie always started our meeting by asking what I thought and what I saw on tape. Then, we figured out tactics. We calculated that Manny could only move inside with a single 1-2 combination because a 1-2-3 combination would take about 4.8 seconds and Manny had to be out of range by two seconds. Our plan was for Manny to slip Oscars left jab by moving to his left while throwing a right to the side of the body then a left straight down the middle. We knew before Oscar could react, he would get hit because his feet would get tangled up as he turned to throw a punch.
Manny had great strategy and fought superbly, but the decimation had far less to do with that than it had to do with his old, slow, decayed opponent.
:huhWhy do people still make excuses for Oscar? Is it Manny's fault that he was drained :think:think Is it Manny's fault that DLH was planning on picking on a smaller fighter but his plan backfired :nono So stop making excuses for DLH.... atsch
lol it doesnt take physics to know that Oscar was slow as **** that day and no the weight draining is not an excuse I dont even like Oscar its a fact. The guy was a walking cadaver. Hatton, Marquez, Mayweather, Margarito, Sugar, Cotto would have done the same **** guarantee.
yea it's pathetic how all these excuses about oscar comes up everytime. If he thought he wouldn't be able to fight at that weight then why did he agree to fight manny at 147? He could have stayed at 154 lbs and fought chavez jr if he really wanted an easy fight:rofl
I do not want to discredit Pac's victory or make excuses for DLH but it didnt take rocket science or timing movements with 4. whatever seconds to beat DLH that night. Do not make it sound like a boxing masterpiece because it wasn't.
This makes a lot of sense actually. Smart analysis of Oscar's tapes and preparation by Buboy and Team Pacquiao.
How would you acount for the 5 and 7 combos by Pac? Dela Hoya was actually an easy target that night.
Dela Hoya may be slow that night but he was still a dangerous w/ his left hook. Pacquiao and his handlers had prepared well for this fight by studying Oscar's fights and come out w/ the right strategy. It only showed that Manny has the best coaching staff any boxer would dream to have. In the coming Hatton-Pac fight, the boxer that employs the right strategy wins. Team Pacquiao has the edge.
"At night, he brushes Pacquiaos hair before he sleeps - thats when Jinkee isnt around during the long training period." wtf!!!:---nono Timing is everything in life, said Roach, the 48-year-old former featherweight contender whose last pro win was a knockout over a Filipino, Arnel Arrozal, in 1986. When Oscar beat (Julio Cesar) Chavez, do you really think he could have beaten him in his prime? No, probably not, but thats not when he fought him. Now, were on top and hes on the downside. This is Mannys time. Roach had absolutely no doubt that Pacquiao would beat De la Hoya. Straight from the horses mouth. All you who say Hoya was not severely passed prime get it again from the horse's mouth.
De La Hoya was an old, weight drained, part-time fighter at the very end of his career. They aren't excuses, they are just facts. The De La Hoya that fought Quartey would have KO'd Manny @ 147. No doubt about that.
