Oscar ducked Vernon at 147, was beaten by Sturm at 160, ducked Winky at 154, stole a fight from Ike, but then had Tito steal one from him, overall I don't see greatness in Oscar's legacy.
Floyd got robbed of his Gold Medal so he would have one too. Mayweather has had more championship fights, record holder too. Oscar only has more titles because he lost some and won some more, thats why. when you defend your belt and dont lost your not gonna win alot of titles. and dont talk about promoter because were talking about fighting in the ring. Yes DLH fought the best but couldnt beat most of them so I can careless. Floyd tried to fight DLH and Mosley way back but DLH didnt want none and Mosley had a toothache. and the Mosley they mayweather fought had just murdered the unbreakable Margarito so I dont know how past prime he was. Sorry Mayweather has more accpolishments. and guess what??? HE ANIT DONE YET!!!
Pleaseatsch Not one fact said there, all biased opinions. By the same token I can say that FLoyd is not undefeated cause he lost to Castillo but the books clearly state FLoyd was the winner. DO you see greatness in FLoyd's legacy??
Man that fight was close but he gave Castillo a immediate rematch. Oscar never gave Ike a rematch because he knew he was gonna get the **** beat out of him again. Yes I see greatness in Floyd's legacy and he isnt even done yet. When I think of great boxers I dont think of Oscar, doesnt even come to mind becuase he wasnt that good
Second greatest fighter of the 90's in my book, just behind Whitaker. Only lost to Mosley in his prime in my book. Ill-fated and badly thought out trip to 160 but you've got to admire his moxy. Became too much of a part-time fighter once he lost to Hopkins and that may very well have contributed to why he sort of slumped so quickly. Didn't duck anybody other than maybe Jose Luis Lopez. Summed up so I didn't have to.
Like buck said Floyd gave Castillo the rematch, what did Oscar do for Sturm, what did he do for Ike? We all know why. Oscar was excellently promoted and matched, but I don't see much in his resume that screams greatness. Like I said he had chances to fight Forrest at 147 and Wright at 154 he didn't even look their way. That is why I have more respect for Shane and rate him higher than Oscar, Shane didn't duck anyone he fought them all.
Oscar went moved up to 160 to fight a #1 pfpnder and ATG named Hopkins FLoyd doesn't even have to guts to fight Martinez..................see we can go at this all week. Bottom line DLH, has more loses cause he fought better fighters. Floyd is undefeated cause he loves to Cherrypick.
Oscar moved up to 160 was beaten to a pulp by Sturm and had his goons pay off the refs so he could take a dive against B-Hop. Floyd went up to 154, Oscar's division and beat him there, or have you forgotten that. Floyd cherry picks when he beats the lineal WW title then beats the former lineal title? Floyd cherry picks in fighting the 154 champ in ODLH instead of fighting Margo? How is that?
When exactly did DLH duck FOrrest WInky refused an offer from DLH(documented), so if anything, he can be accused of ducking DLH. Either way, you're talking out your ass and I think you know it.:deal Anyone accusing DLH of ducking(fought WHitaker, quartey, vargas, trinidad, Chavez, Hopkins, etc) knows **** about boxing.
So Oscar didn't duck Vernon? He just didn't want to fight the 147 champ and the man who beat the man who beat him right? Get the **** out of here, Oscar ducked Vernon. Winky refused chump changed from DLH and Oscar said **** it, I don't want to fight the best at 154 I'll just fight Vargas, the man everyone knows stole a fight from Winky. You talk like fighting a shot whitaker, vargas (never was the same after Tito), Chavez (really?) are **** to be proud of.
Good to see Oscar getting his rightful props and even people that weren't fans of him give him his due. I've noticed since he retired, more people at forums are finally giving him credit and the haters are getting told. You gotta be ******ed to think oscar wasn't great at one time.
Winky and Forrest did not generate the same money Vargas fight did. Why the fuk would a prize fighter take any fight that offered a lot less pay then another. Vargas/Oscar was one of the biggest fights during that period due to their history and that's the fight fans wanted to see. Winky would have made more money fighting Oscar than he would any other fight so it was on him to not take it. Get it?
Wow sounds like something Floyd would say, guess you ODLH fans trying to **** on Floyd just lost whatever high ground you had.
I've never **** on Floyd. He's a great fighter that thinks about money first, which any prize fighter should. If fighting A = maximum risk + minimum money, and fighting B = medium risk + maximum money, you can never hate on a man that chooses the latter.
What I found most impressive about his career, was he went up to welter and fought P4P'rs Trinidad, Whitaker and Quartey all in the space of a couple years. Those guys had been in the division together for years, all long-time champs, and never managed to fight each other. Yet Oscar fought them all. Then followed that up with prime Mosley. I think that should signify what he was all about. Of course he money hungry too, but that didn't stop him taking on the best. That's got to be respected, especially nowadays when so many are ducking and dodging the best challenges for easier paydays.
