Mugabi for all his power and agression had a far weaker chin than De La Hoya. Say what you want about De La Hoya but in his prime he had a granite chin. He also started to box a lot more when he went up to light-middleweight aswell, so i dont think he would get involved in a reckless brawl. Hes a far more skilled fighter than Mugabi so i think he wins by stoppage in the late rounds of a competitive fight.

Las Vegas Odds,,,,,,,,,,John Mugabi an 11-5 favorite.

How many Knock-outs did John Mugabi have after 5 Rounds.

No, it wouldn't be him at 154. That guy never really left the ring from the Hagler fight, imo.

Incidentally, Hagler circa Mugabi vs a 154 DLH is a brutal beating as well.

The closest Oscar ever got to Hagler was the first time he saw him on tv(well probably not but you know what i mean:good)

Good post, but at 154lbs, Oscar has nowhere near the Strength or Power that Mugabi has. I don't see him surviving four rounds. Mugabi started fast & while Oscar proved many a time he didn't have China Chin, if Mugabi landed cleanly, Oscar would go, no question!

Mugabi is too big and hits too hard for Oscar IMO. DLH is not exactly a defensive wizard, which is what he'd have to be against a genuine 154-160 lbs fighter with that kind of power.

Not at 154 vs a puncher like Mugabi, Oscar never faced that kind of power. Remember Duran had a granite chin too - at lightweight. He got bombed out in 2 by Hearns. When you go up in weight and face a true puncher, the ability to shrug off blows by smaller, lighter-hitting men doesn't count for as much.

IF,,,,,,,,,,,Oscar could make it through 5 Rounds, would his body
(after being battered) summon enough strength to mount an offensive attack.

John Mugabi did walk around at 175-180 lbs., in between fights.

Trinidad is more refined than Mugabi and was the sharper puncher.

Mugabi is a dangerous opponent for Oscar but this was the kind of guy that made Oscar look great.

The fight would be fairly one sided in favor of Oscar but compelling because Mugabi's equalizer.

Oscar couldn't move like he did against Tito at this weight though.

Exactly where in my post did I mention Hopkins, Vargas or Mayorga?

Oscar ran to the hills in the last three rounds against Felix but I still think he did enough to win the fight.
