De La Hoya clearly won 7 of the first 9.

Clean effective punching. Not "who hurt the other guy more". There are many rounds where one fighter hurts another, but the other wins the round back by doing more quality work over the course of the round. In any case, there were plenty of rounds were Tito never bothered Oscar with any of his shits because they hardly landed clean.

Truth be told - there were plenty of flurries by Oscar where hardly anything landed clean. And his punches weren't too effective as he was the one tiring and running in the latter rounds.

What would be the difference between a clean effective punch and one that is not as clean or effective...the clean effective would effective one would hurt or do more damage. When you break down all the boxing criteria, you can see they are all trying to lead you to determine one thing, who is winning by who is hurting their opponent more. Ring Generalship, who looks to be in command, ...why is he in command, it might be because what he is doing is more effective. Defense, the ability to take less damage etc. Judges do not consciously put the scoring criteria in effect for each round, that would impossible.

It is only a guideline to help them determine who was more effective in putting out the hurt in a close round, and it helps to give the scoring a sense of legitimacy. They cannot come out and say the scoring is simply an opinion of who out hurt who, that would lead to an even more ridiculous amount of conspiracy theories than we have now...the scoring criteria is about a sense of higher functioning legitimacy, but when you really break it down, it's obvious all their really trying to determine is who out hurt who.

Wow, I Puerto Rican guy stating that Oscar never comfortably beat Tito and that the decision was just. Perhaps some bias here? I was rooting for Trinidad to win that fight by the way but he clearly...clearly lost that fight. One of the biggest robberies I've ever seen in a fight of that significance to the sport.

School's in, The fight tightened up, not because of what Tito was doing but because of what Oscar was doing. The fight wasn't close at all. Oscar just gave him three rounds. Tito wasn't hitting Oscar. He was awarded the rounds because he was moving forward. The total in rounds were close but not the fight. Oscar made a tactical error and it cost him.:bbb

how can i be biased, almost giving all close rounds to oscar? :huh

why highlight something you can't even read? If you can't read well, don't bother scoring a fight

Lol at the two dudes with PR on their avatar names.

Sure, we're going to take your opinions objectively lol

Oscar won that, even with him throwing the fight in the end. That's how lopsided that fight was.

No way Cheato Trinidad won that fight lol

Oscar gave the blueprint on how to beat Tito. Oscar easily outboxed Tito, then his corner, Gil Clancy, told him to just take if easy the last rounds, but Oscar still won the fight. Don King's judges gave Tito a split decision. You could see that Tito was surprised................

They never told him to take it easy. Or to run.

This, people spill **** like he took it easy or a tactical error but if you watch the last 2 rounds closely, oscar was dead tired, looking for a way out, taking big right hands in the proccess while tito finished that fight like it was nothing.

    A draw is right

Exactly. People act like Oscar's strategy was so effective. Obviously not as he was dead tired after the ninth and did nothing to ever slow Tito down. In fact, it was Tito whose strategy of wearing Oscar down paid off. Had it been a 15-rounder, Oscar would've been toast. I understand why he avoided the rematch.
