He clearly isn't coming back. But had a fighter like Golovkin been around during his time I am pretty certain he would have fought him, De La Hoya was never afraid of stepping in with the best.

 

Age is a *****, you never think you are ill until it hits you in the face , no way he comes back unless its to save Canelo from fighthing GGG "OK ill fight you , just leave my boy alone!!!"

 

I bet GGG will be interested. Oscar meets the requirements.

 

Think about it. DLH is the gatekeeper for PPV. He did it for Mayweather and Pacquiao. This would be huge for GGG and DLH's wallet. GGG by TKO in 7.

Can you imagine the abuse GGG would get in the boxing community for fighting a guy who was washed up about a decade ago.

It would be like Kovalev fighting Jones now!

 

After the "fight of the century" was a lackluster bust, boxing realized there's no more viable PPV stars. So, they need to dust of Oscar and make the next big PPV star; just like he made Floyd and Pac into household names.

A win over Oscar makes GGG a star and in turn makes GGG/Canelo all that much bigger while also bringing in some likely much needed money to GBP.

 

Oscar has some *****, i'll give him that. Can't really say that about Floyd "only in it for the money" mayweather.
