I won't as far to call him a genius but he did play that right. It won't last long because there are not that many cans at 154 and 160 is definitely a danger zone.
Canelo is a huge draw and he was bound to do good numbers on HBO, no doubt about that. On the other hand, its kind of hard to put it into context though with the 1st replay of the "fight of the century" being right before it.
Let's see how Oscar continues to navigate Canelo's matchmaking. I'm thoroughly impressed with his level of opposition dating back to the Austin Trout fight. WHo else is there for him to fight at 154? The Charlo brothers don't bring much to the table financially, and I doubt he rematches Lara or Mayweather. It seems his best bet is to consider moving up to 160 lbs. If he wants to take that September date from Floyd, all he has to do is fight Golovkin!
