Actually that is not for sure.....Tito and DLH have very similar accomplishments and careers but it can be argued either way that Tito or DLH is higher than the other...I lean towards DLH just b/c he's been facing more quality opposition...even though he has lost more fights he's put himself out there against better opposition throughout his career.
That's just ****ing silly....DLH fights to be "Competitive"atsch THat's the mentality of a ****ing jouney man. DLH fights to win....all Elite level fighters do. It's in their DNA...no one at this level is fighting just to be ****ing competitive. He disgraced himself with how he chose to finish the fight with Tito but he was young, dumb and paid for his mistake...he got his "W" taken away and it was his fault. But he's never done that again.
I think he makes the list, but its debateble whether he is or isn't. There's a fascinating article about it on the scene
You've rilly opened up a can of wormz here, Bigtime. Your scoring a 99% reply rate on this *****. Ha! Anyway, De La Hoya's losses to Mosely are currently in series question. It's gonna be debated until that big asteroid hits that Oscar actually won against Trinidad. He's one of two fighters to truly test Mayweather. And the only time he was ever been stopped was when he moved up to Middleweight to take on a much larger B-Hop. This is somethin' to consider, Brother. He is a 10 time world champion.
Alot of people are going to debate his ATG status, one thing you are spot on is that he is going to be as bad or worse than Don King. Whether people like ODLH or not money corrupts people 99% of the time, all he cares about is his money.
The fact that at this point in his career he can still sell millions of PPVs makes him an ATG in anyone's eyes bro. :smoke
That Sturm Decision was criminal. It was a total farce. DLH is a good fighter but only in the minds of his nuthuggers and HBO is he a legit ATG. He has lost way to many big fights to be an ATG.
We have some crazy ass posters here...I dont really think that its debatable as to the status of Oscar...he is an all time great fighter without a question... Oscar was robbed vs Tito and maybe in the second fight with Mosley, but he also got fights that he didnt win in Whitaker, Strum and Quartey. Over a long career those things seem to even out abit. Then we had a poster that stated NO WAY that Oscar could rank ahead of tito?????WTF Tito didnt fair much better vs elite fighter then Oscar did, in fact Tito was dominated in fights with other Elite fighters, Oscar has never been dominated. Not to mention that only the diehard tito fans, or total oscar haters thought that Tito won thier fight.
I disagree. Oscar's wins over Quartey, Whitaker and Vargas were excellent, his overall resume is as deep and strong as they come in the last 20 years or so, he should have got the decision against Trinidad and in the second Mosley fight, and he has won world titles at 6 weight divisions, won many world titles, is a former world p4p#1, and done a lot for boxing with the way he always chased the very best opponents available - who has fought more world p4p#1s? The guy is a great, maybe not an ATG in terms of ability (though he was an excellent welterweight), but a great when you consider everything, resume, achievements etc.
Oscar De la Hoya is not only a ATG. He is a boxing phenomenom. I will explain before you fall from your chair. Oscar is a great boxer, no doubt, even past his prime, he is still pretty good. But DLH did a lot more for boxing. Before DLH all the big money was for heavyweights. And there were a lot of heavyweights who look like anything but boxers. DLH pretty face attracted a lot of attention back to boxing, specially women. And you all know where women go, men go. So a lot of more people started paying attention to boxing and going to the fights. True boxing fans didn't change. But the general public suddenly learned you don't need heavyweight to have great fights. And many names were discover. Tito, Cotto, Margarito, PBF, Castillo, Marquez, Hammed, Pacquiao, they all went through a door Oscar opened for them. I am Puerto Rican and not much of a Oscar fan. But people have to recognize what "THE GOLDEN BOY" really mean to boxing. Of course now he is collecting some money before hanging the gloves. But his promotion company is also opening doors to many new fighters. AND THE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHTS?????? WELL, I THINK THEY ARE PLAYING FOOTBALL!!!!
Are you that big of a butt pirate. How about his fights against Chavez and gatti when he young, you dumb son of *****
