This issue must have you in quite a quandry, as, if memory serves, you are a hater of BOTH Pac and Delahoya. Oh, I know. you don't actually hate the boxers, it's their fans you can't stand. Presscott says the same thing re Oscar fans. At least Fighting weight admits he can't stand Calzaghe, and Suge doesn't deny his disdain for the KLits. I can understand being a fan of a boxer. I have about a dozen current favourites. And I can understand how some fans irritate when they go over the top. In particular, some worshippers of Floyd, Oscar, Wlad, Pac, and at one time, Tito. (I exclude ChinaHandJoe and PacdBest from the 'fanboy' list as they provide tongue-in-cheek humor, which flies over most heads). But I really don't understand the haters. Unless a boxer has done something bad to me personally, i can't see working up the energy and time to make negative threads on boxers I don't care much for. But I guess it's takes all kinds to keep the forum interesting.
I think Pac just realized what he was getting into, He would have gotten KO'd the way Gatti got dropped in the 1st round with oscar in their fight.
How about this for math...in his recent fights with JMM, MAB, and Morales, Pac has made out with the majority share from those big names. He is being called out by everyone and thier mom from 135 and down. Now what does that tell you? It should tell you that among those guys, Pac is and always will be the draw, the headliner, the Oscar Dela Hoya of the lower weights. The problem here is that you're comparing Pac's PPV buys to those of guys from ww and above...when history dictates that lower-weight guys traditionally never garnered much interest to the general boxing public outside of boxing hardcores. In that context, it should tell you that 200,000 buys fighting what essentially is a tuneup stay busy fight for a lightweight, is pretty damned good for a former 107lber. Following Naz's precedent, Pac is a big enough name to headline a PPV fighting less than stellar names all by himself. In fact, Pac has surpassed Naz's and makes more fighting featherweights than the majority of those upperweight guys. Now can JMM do that on his own? Can MAB or Morales? The point is, given boxing's long history of preference towards the upperweights, Pac IS a draw based solely from the general noninterest of the casual fan of the lowerweights. Those 200,000 buys were in likelihood all bought to watch Pac and only Pac. U see where Im gettin at? You're arguement here is that Pac needs a big name dance partner to have a successful PPV. Well I do agree with you on that, unfortunately to most, the only big name in the lower weight IS Pac. This concept about a big name dance partner for a successful PPV also holds true, for the upperweights....the distinct advantage being that there are more recognized names at those weights. This is the reason why Pac is always the headliner in all his fights, and that's why he makes millions in weight classes that traditionally have been just part of PPV cards of upperweight guys. He is the only one garnering interest from the casual fan at those weights. He should get the lion's share every time. The arguement that there is hypocrisy on Pac's part as compared to his financial dealings with JMM is you losing sight of that fact, that Joe Schmoe from bumble**** New Jersey dont give a **** about david diaz or the lower weight classes in general, but he does care about the p4p#1 and the excitement he brings and will dish out 50 bucks to watch him fight DelHoya. You're losing sight of the drawing power of each player in the fight. So if you think that a 70-30 split is good math under the circumstances, then I dunno....there really is no point arguing with you about it coz I can only see it as a person hellbent to discredit a fighter to make his favorite one look good.
if you follow your argument to its logical conclusion it will make a great case -for why a 70-30 split is good math under the circustances. if you cant see that then there is really no point in arguing with you about it coz i can only see it as a person hellbent to discredit a fighter to make his favorite look good.
You probably did'nt bother reading, but my first post in this thread I state that I believe Pac deserves more than a 30% share against DLH. .....I go on to state that I'm glad that its turning out the way it is now, with no fight vs DLH, so that the ******* can see the side that JMM was on when he was negotiating for a Pac fight. .....and BTW, all of Pac's sucessful PPV events have come against proven commodities......fighters who themselves had proven themselves as being sucessful in selling a PPV! Pac has'nt lit up the scales in any of his PPV endevours, except for the JMM, which was a highly anticipated matchup in boxing circles. .....dont come in here talking like Pac is the second coming of DLH as far as PPV sales are concerned.....because of that, it is'nt even close. For a PPV to be a true sucess, you need a credible opponent with a bonafide chance to pull the upset. Arum was expecting Pac-Diaz to draw big numbers, and by his own admission, was'nt up to par of what he thought the fight could do. Arum blamed the economy, but then Cotto-Margarito goes up and sells what appears to be upwards of 450K in PPV's! ......guess what JMM-Pac did???? Exactly, it was as sucessful as Cotto-Margarito.....even more sucessful when you look at the fact that it was actually natural featherweights fighting, who by history dont sell as much as the bigger boys. It takes two great fighters to $ell a PPV. The only thing I've pointed out in this thread is the truth. JMM was disrespected by Arum and Pac, they offered a great fighter only 25% of the purse......DLH offers them a bigger %, and all of a sudden Arum and Pac fell disrespected.....what goes around comes around. The shoe is in the other foot, and I'm loving it!!!!!!:happy :happy :happy :tong :yep
Yes. I hate getting labeled as being a ******* yet I try to be as objective as possible. Actually right now, all of the people you call *******s are gone.
Blind?! Looks who's talking!!!! The #1 of JMM who believes he NEVER NEVER NEVER lost in his career!!! All the L's and D's are courtesy of the imcompetent judges
For me it does not matter if he does not draw big PPV numbers as you claim.. Here's a a dose of your OWN REALITY 1) PAC is still the 1 p4p 2) PAC beat JMM 3) PAC has a much much better RESUME than JMM 4) All though head to head JMM may have won over MAB JMM's resume is no comparison with MAB and Morales 5) Morales has the distinction of the only mexican beating Pac 6) Take out MAB in the resume of JMM and what do you have?! PURE NUMBERS!!! Similar to Valero. Pure numbers in the list of his victims. Quality?! ah!! err..um.... These are the just a few doses of reality for you!!!!
