I only remember Hoya landing two or three significant jabs, to be honest. Where did all his jabbing take place? Too long ago to really remember, but I honestly don't recall seeing it seriously trouble Floyd. It IS ridiculous that so many boxers neglect it, though -- I think of it as the most important punch in the sport. A good jab can be a brilliant offence and defence, it sets up other punches, it's the quickest to reach the target, it measures distance, you can use it to sting or 'stiff-arm' the other guy away from you, etc. It's a brilliant weapon.
I've been saying this for a while, Floyd is very beatable at these higher weights. Of course it's would be hard because Floyd is very skilled and all but he's not as unbeatable as some people around here make him out to be.
If Floyd was such an easy fight, how did Oscar manage to lose 8 rounds? I mean, all Oscar had to do was throw 20 jabs a round to win it sounds like.
Oscar is just talking out of his ass, son of a ***** came in over 160 for that fight, smaller ring, and them damn pillows he made floyd wear, and money still won on every score card except the one where the judges head was so far up hoya's ass he couldn't even see the fight. :huh And remember after the fight hoya was like "I Threw the harder crisper punches" Joke Muffka I can stand in a neutral corner and throw punches. A PUNCH THROWN IS NOT A PUNCH LANDED
Ive only read the thread title..... My view - dont listen to Oscar, its all about the money with that dickhead, he says what ever suits his interests at that time & likely doesnt believe it himself.
Well if it was so easy why the fcuk did you not defeat Mayweather then, Oscar? Mayweather beat De La Hoya & that's it! This is a joke. If only Floyd & Oscar would join forces, they could be quite a team in respect of business terms! Does Oscar really believe JMM is going to beat Mayweather? I think Floyd is will TKO Marquez! Forget the layoff, Floyd will be too sharp for JMM, who has been getting hit a lot more in his recent fights!
Give the guy some credit Oscar....sheesh, he made you look silly and very bad at times especially in the 10th and 11th and even when he threw the jab a lot in certain instances, like the 7th round, he was about 11 for 38. Oscar will forever think of this fight like the Trinidad fight, as fights that he let slip away.
Its evident that a good consistent jabber can force Floyd to come in a little more during the fight to score effectively with his shots instead of pot shotting from the outside one punch at the time...
