This or Laporte-Hayes and not Dokes-Coetzee should have been The Ring's upset of the year for 1983

Muniz just looked so small compared to Chandler, who clearly hadn’t taken this fight seriously.

This fight made such a mockery of the WBA and their sham ratings. Do you know that Oscar Muniz, who had a record going into this fight of 35-3-3 with wins over Kiko Bejines, Freddie Jackson, Eddie Logan and Mel Johnson, couldn't even get a top ten ranking? Yet, they had no issue rating Miguel Irarte their #1 contender the year before. And Chandler even said about the Irarte fight that the Panamanian 'didn't even know how to fight.' The only reason Muniz got a title shot was because of this fight. Beating the world champion in a non-title and full credit to Chandler for giving him an immediate title shot. It showed the stuff of Chandler for wanting to make amends and not cowering in fear. BTW, the title fight was damn close too before being stopped on cuts.
