Oscar (of the whitaker fight) vs. Prime PBF (at welter)

The Oscar that beat Trinidad would have done the exact same thing to Mayweather.

 

Oscar overwhelms him with speed, power, and strength.

Floyd has an edge in skill, but Oscar had a ton of that himself, and almost every other physical advantage, whereas Floyd definitely surrendered some of his as he rose in weight.

I think Floyd honestly tools Oscar at lower weights, but 147, when he's at his worst and Oscar came into his best, I don't think he manages it.

Pull off the gas with four rounds left? That's always a recipe for disaster.
You can argue that De La Hoya lost that fight more than Trinidad won it, but De La Hoya still lost that fight.
I understand that each round is scored on the same scale. However you have to assume that you won every round on the scorecards to ease up after 8 rounds. He got the loss he deserved.

 

I scored the real fight a draw, and have no trouble seeing DLH win a 116-112 type of decision.

 

Not scoring 8 rounds for Oscar is, imo, questionable, when one uses the scoring criteria of landing shots and not getting hit with them.

Tito got schooled, and all but embarassed. You have to argue Oscar lost the fight more than won it; Tito couldn't do a thing to him.

 

I see Oscar winning a close 12 round decision.

 

This was not Oscar at his best IMO. So, Oscar at his WW best vs. PBF at his WW best?

It was a very bad move but it's still one of the worst decisions ever. Trinidad clearly won 3 rounds and a case can be made for 4 rounds, that's it! 8 or 9 rounds to 3 or 4!

 

Oscar whooped that ass in the 9th round.

 

It'd be close, but DLH would win. Too much offensive arsenal and at welterweight, PBF doesn't have the same evasive skills he showed at 130 which he'd need to take those offensive tools of Oscar's away.

In their actual fight, DLH was a fair bit bigger than he would be against Floyd at 147, but Oscar was much quicker and sharper at 147, and Floyd wouldn't take the risks needed to get within Oscar's range enough to outpoint him.

Floyd's defense is still too good for Oscar to rout him. This would be close and tense.

Whilst we're at it, Ike Quartey and Tito would beat Floyd at 147 too.

 

I fell that there real fight was not as close as the official score would lead one to beleive. De La Hoya had his molmets, but mayweather deserved the win.
If they were to match up at 147. With De La Hoya of the Whitaker fight vs. The best Welterweight that Mayweather was. I think the fight would be a lot closser. When De La Hoya fought Whitaker. Whitaker may not hav been at his peak, but he should have been expected to beat the field. The same can be said about Mayweather as a welterweight. Keep in mind that De La Hoya did not have an easy win over Whitaker.
I have the felling that the more popular De La Hoya is going to get any close rounds. Judges are human beings and can be influnced by the crowd reaction. I fell that Mayweather is still the better boxer, but not by much.
While Mayweather has a slight edge in boxing skills. De La Hoya is in his prime.
I think Mayweather will deseve an 8-4 victory, but I think the scoring will be closer with the winner, whoever that will be winning by just a round.

 

Prime Oscar wins a UD. The best welterweight editions of DLH were when he fought Rivera and Trinidad though. Whitaker was his first fight at the weight.

 

50/50 fight, floyd is the more skilled boxer but Oscar has the size, power & workrate advantage, a controversial depends what you like type fight similar to the Oscar-Pernell fight.
