Oscar will get beat much worse in the rematch. Sure his stamina looked better but people forget that he will fade against PBF because PBF won't stand infront of him like Forbes and will use movement to tire Oscar out. Not to mention the clean counters he will get hit with and missed shots will all lead to him fading down the stretch on cue.
I'll watch the fight again, but he looked good to me. And yeah, I felt he was moving much better. Even in the Mayorga fight, he looked very stiff and stationary. Saturday night he appeared much looser and lighter on his feet. I even thought his defense was tight, he blocked alot of shots on his gloves and really only got hit when Forbes just flailed out a combination and lunged in, but he quickly regained control.
when your best weight is at 147 or 154 and your opponanst best weight at 130 or 135 its easier to look "good".
When your opponent comes into the fight with the sole intention of NOT getting knocked out, is a great defensive fighter and takes next to no chances it's easier to look "bad" :deal
Huh? Forbes didnt exactly run from DLH. . . I thought he fought a gutsy fight and even marked up DLH's face more than he got. Granted, Forbes has a good chin - but he is what he is and theres not a whole lot to take away from this fight. It was a showcase fight.
Not more then he got. His right eye was cut, and I'd think there was a reason he was wearing shades at the press conference. I'm not taking anything away from Forbes, but he didn't take many chances.
he stood toe to toe and was willing to exchange with DLH much more than Fraud did. . . thats for damn sure.
No, I agree. Like i said I give Forbes alot of credit. But he fought in spurts, he did what he had to do, granted. I just think Oscar is getting too much criticism and Forbes isn't getting credited enough for fighting exactly how he was supposed to in order not to get starched.
I guess we dont disagree too much, I just thought Forbes stood in alot more than thna most expected. He actually gained DLH's respect early on and thats why DLH didnt go for the KO as much as he had probably planned. Lets just be honest here, Forbes has a loss to Grady Fukcin Brewer. Like I said, it is what it is and DLH deserves a shole lot of flack for even making this match.
Early in the first round, Manny said "Oscar has one of the greatest jabs in the history of boxing". The Fishnet does have a brilliant jab, but that's overstating it. Steward's best comment is when he said Oscar looked like he did 10 years ago.
