My guess is that the major dam to the fight would not be Oscar, but Golovkin's side of the equation, HBO.
HBO execs have killed more good boxing match ups than Israelis killing Semites.

Golovkin doesn't have to fight on HBO. They passed on one of his fights earlier this year and he went ahead with it.

He SAID he would come to 154, maybe he should actually do it, and take a fight there? Lara has been calling for the fight for a year.

Oscar is a fighter and knows what should be happening in the MW boxing world much better than HBO, Sanchez, Golovkin and Quillin.
If Oscar says that Quillin and Golovkin should meet and unify, then that is exactly what they should be doing.

I see that both Quillin and Golovkin are on the exact same level, both needing to step up to the next level of competition from the weak opponents both have feasted on over the last 3-4 years.
Time for the rubber to hit the road and for the division's best to meet and determine who is the real King of the division. That determination can't possibly be made with each continuing to face & defeat tomato cans.

Clearly another fine example of a fanatic who has Golovkin **** around his lips from attaching mouth to G boy's ****** ass.
That's fine, if that's your thing.

For me, I see both Golovkin and Quillin for what they both are. They of the best in a weak division who have gained titles by beating less than average competition.
Until they both meet and fight one another, they are equals as far as both holding titles in the same weak division and both defeating lesser opponent in a weak division.
The only clear path for distinction between them is, (1) to face each other or, (2) move up to SMW where both will be exposed a lot sooner. :yep

He signed a 4 contract fight with HBO, the one with Gaele was the first one, 3 left. Get your fact straight.

Canelo mindset and marketing going to make it hard to duck GGG for long when he moves to 160. Sending Quillin over to become Golovkin victim #31 and raise GGG's profile, and rebuild a relationship with HBO actually makes all sorts of sense. At least if you consider that Canelo is 24y/o and Oscars primary concern is Canelo's PPV brand which should last a decade.

Oscar is 0 - 173 in his predictions. Whatever he says will happen, you can safely bet your house and a few organs on the opposite.

Makes sense when you put it that way.

Oscar was stabbed in the back by Shaefer and Haymon. BUT, Oscar still has a say in managing fighters signed under his banner.

Oscar could effectively end the HBO boycott by taking a couple of his guys back to the $$$$ network.

And as a business man, he surely sees the writing on the wall that Showtime is losing their @ss limiting themselves to Haymon/Shaeffer/GBP fighters whereas HBO is bringing solid talent from across the globe to their network.

Oscar doesnt want to end up in Bob's situation by essentially only being able to get fights in house, and if he extends his hand across to the K2s and Main Events and Dan G005ENs of the world, he might actually be able to bring more of his fighters back to the premier boxing network.

While he has to know that he'd be sacrificing Quillin in what would be a sanctioned execution, he could satisfy GGGs/K2 bloodlust without them being after his cashcow, Canelo.

If GGG got Quillin and Soliman in consective fights, it would prove to the world he's the BOSS at MW with nothing left to prove there, and then he would leave the MW division for SMW, ALLOWING Oscars cashcow to move up without being labeled a coward for not fighting GGG.

And we all KNOW that Canelo, @24 y/o is already struggling with 154, so it's gonna damned near be impossible for him to continue hiding south of 160.

with GGG moving to 168 after Soliman and Quillin, Canelo could take control of MW vs Cotto, Mora, Korobov, Rubio etc etc etc, while saving face ducking GGG.:think:think:think:think

I dont think Oscar is too afraid of Canelo losing to GGG really, as long as GGG isnt considered a bad guy to lose to. Oscar lost plenty of fights but still had a brand. Its all about how you lose, and who you lose to. If Canelo lost an exciting fight to someone, that would just mean a higher grossing rematch.

He is also stuck in a place where he can have Quillin maybe lose to his mandatory, or Quillin lose to GGG. Since Quillin is an undercard fighter, throwing him in with Canelo next is a no-go even with belt.

Of course theres the upside too - what if Quillin pulled off the upset? Suddenly Oscar would have a viable in-house match for Canelo at 160. If Quillin somehow beat GGG a Canelo-Quillin PPV would be very marketable.
