Happening this Saturday. I am no believer in Washington, should've lost to Mansour and has shown nothing outside of good size and early round competitiveness. I see Rivas wearing his down and scoring a KO in rounds 6 to 9. Anybody else care to throw out a thought or prediction?
If Gerald had a decent engine and more experience - i would actually pick him. They should have kept his activity up. He fought five times a year for the first three years of his career. That´s fantastic! And then suddenly last year we saw him only twice. On top of that he has only been in two ten round contests(one going the distance). Wins over Sherman Williams, Jason Gavern and Nagy Aguilera is what a fighter of his limiations needs more of. Oscar Rivas is a poor choice of opponent for him at this point. While a win would put him in a good position, it won´t guarantee a title shot. He should have fought the likes of: Siarhei Liakhovich, Derric Rossy, Curtis Harper, Joey Abell. Learn, get better and an active fighter will always get attention.
Its a good way to see what both these guys have. Washington has slightly better comp as a pro, and does have quite a large size/reach advantage. Rivas had a top amateur pedigree though. If Washington has worked on his conditioning since Mansour, he could take it. If not Rivas right hand could go KABOOM all over Washingtons Jaw
