I dont often agree with you @shadow111 but in this case I do. Hell--this might be the only PPV fight I buy all year. And you know I am a huge Canelo critic, however i give him a lot of credit for showing his movement in the fight. The way he would rotate away from GGG's big right looked like the foot mechanics of a check hook except he wasnt throwing it. If I were GGG's team, I would look at the film closely.

I scored the fight 8-4 live, then 7-5 the next day.

I am keeping to my original position. GGG only wins by a T/KO.

I agree that Canelo edged Golovkin in the first fight and should have gotten the decision. Triple Gift was gifted a draw but he did managed to keep it close enough for his fans to argue he won. I gave Canelo rounds 1,2,3,4,10,11,12. Round 5 I gave to Golovkin even though Canelo was winning the first 2 minutes of the round, I gave credit to Golovkin for landing the big right hand and finishing the round strong. 4 and 5 were pretty much toss ups, so I split those. The other rounds are hard to score because Canelo landed the better punches in 6-9 but was slightly outworked by Golovkin. Being generous to Golovkin giving him 3 out of the 4 in rounds 6-9, I end up with it about 8-4, I can't give Golovkin all 6,7,8,9 with all those bombs Canelo landed. Round 6 and 8 are really hard to give to Golovkin, watching round 6 again I was really impressed with Canelo and round 8 was very even. (and the punch stats in round 8 only having Canelo landing 1 jab were way off, I counted them and observed Canelo landing 7-13 jabs, the uppercut he landed on Golovkin in the 8th was brutal, it really rocked Golovkin, he'd never been hit that hard in his career)

You make some great points here, I agree that Canelo was getting in his offense even when fighting off the backfoot. I think both fighters will be in better condition than the first fight and while I favor Canelo, it is not a forgone conclusion, Golovkin has a lot to prove and I expect he will give it his all. It could quite possibly be a classic epic matchup.

anyone with eyes knows that GGG won the first fight, if he wins again there is no need for a 3rd fight

So what you're saying is that Sergio Mora doesn't have eyes? And what Deontay Wilder : doesn't he have eyes too?

Canelo clearly won rounds 1-3 and 10-12, that's almost non-debatable. Between rds 4-9 GGG had more success since Canelo took the foot of the gas pedal, but even within those rounds Canelo had sime success and arguments can be made for Canelo winning at least one or two rounds. I personally had the fight for Canelo, but I realize as a boxing fan that fights are subjective to scoring and I can accept anyone who had it 6-- or 7-5 GGG.

How about you give me your scorecard since you're saying Canelo fans are looking so hard. In rds 10-12 Golovkin looked lost. He was following Canelo around the ring, missing wildly and landing some jabs here and there. Canelo made GGG miss so much and still landed the best punches in those rounds.

Do you know what the scoring criteria is?

    Defense-Canelo
Ring Generalship- Canelo fought his fight, GOlovkin fought completely out of character, following around and using the jab as his main weapon, unable and unwilling to commit to hard punches.
    Hard clean punches-Canelo
Effective aggression- Very hard to guage considering GGG missed 70% of his punches.

Use the scoring system and you might have a different outcome in your judging of fights.

I’ll be honest I had it a draw myself and was on rewatches probably swayed by the commentators who had Canelo stealing rounds ten to twelve which I thought harsh as they thought GGG nullified Canelos good work in those rounds.
Honestly and it’s not often I agree with Ego I thought neither guy separated themselves to walk away with all the belts so I actually had no probs with the draw which is exactly how Kovalev v Ward 1 should of been.
I can’t speak for everyone but.imo it wasn’t the result.that was at fault but the way they got there which was a shame as it undermined what both guys did and only makes Golden boy look bad.

Golovkin did disappoint me no question in particular his head hunting and inability to find that right hand but even still he had Canelo repeatedly on the ropes and was effective albeit not the destructive force we’ve seen against lesser foes.
His jab wins him rounds time n again but him not backing it up with combinations, punches in bunches was very odd.
I think Canelo showed in round ten that when he wants he can land on Golovkin at will but has he sorted out his cardio as Hopkins wanted him too do?

Can’t call the rematch at all.
