Oscar v Mosley The Forgotten Classic Fight

I had DLH winning the rematch, but I found it interesting and surprising that so few of the writers polled at ringside had him winning. They polled 28 writers and only 8 had DLH winning.

 

I remember the clash of heads being earlier in the fight, like the 4th or 5th, around there.

Mosley came on with a nice right hand in the 9th round. Rounds 10 and 11 had some pretty good two-way action, but the fight was far inferior to the first.

 

Shane wasn't on Balco in the first fight, he was in the 2nd, which he imo got dominated. He had way too much muscle mass, you could tell he was using in the 2nd fight -- they even talked about how much bigger he was and how much slower his punchers were. Shane was saying it was the weight lifting, I knew it wasnt. Because if you look at his last fight with winky he was no where near as big and his punches were much faster by result

 

The first is an all time great fight. The second isn't so great. I had Mosley winning both.

 

One of the best fights in the last fifteen years. I hold it with Leonard/Duran 1, Morales/Barrera 1, and Pac/Morales 1, as my favorites of all time. People don't give Oscar his due is the problem. But time itself will put him where he needs to be.

 

It's still the best scrap that DLH or Mosley were ever in.

You have to rewatch that ****, he was rocked in rd 12, a rd in which Mosely won.

Neither man was ever really hurt but DLH took a shot that had a visible effect, mostly it was a technical boxing match.

 

The first fight was a great action fight.

Oscar fought a pretty one dimensional fight agaisnt the explosive Sugar Man.

Shane looked superb in the fight.

 

You cant score a fight if you had Mosely winning that 2nd fight mate.

 

The 1st fight was a classic which I seem to remember scoring a draw, I remember having De La Hoya ahead at the half way point, but he started to fade late on. The 2nd bout wasnt as good, but I felt De La Hoya clearly won this one.

 

It was a great fight. I think Oscar expected to be able to bully the Lightweight, but Mosley out-slugged a man naturally much bigger than him in what was probably his best ever performance.

 

It was a good fight no doubt, but the record books are rather misleading...Oscar won that second fight IMO...To top it off Mosley was doping....I wish a trilogy would have happened!

 

Honestly, for me nothing is tainted in that fight.
That was a great fight period.
