Oscar woulda beat that ass...Would any of you buy a PPV of these 2 at 165 if it were this year? I would...Both are old and are still around the same level today IMO.
I thought about this. I'd watch an exhabition type thing for sure, but I wouldn't pay to see two guys whos primes were during my childhood.
I would imagine that there are different types of rematch clauses, in this case was more like "if we (Tito) win then in the rematch this is what we are asking for". It was not one of those rematch clause where the fighter is "force" to fight the rematch....
Of course that is Oscar's argument, but on the other hand you have the Trinidad pride insulted to bend over Oscar's demands when Trinidad is the one that holds the official win on the record. Oscar can have all the money he wants, but he never got the chance to get his revenge on Trinidad. Againd we have the weight issue. After Trinidad fought at 160, he couldn't make 154lbs anymore. It be safer for Oscar to bring rocks on his pockets to weigh in at 160 than for Trinidad to cut off one leg to make 154lbs.
Good call. Idk about Tito finishing what he started he never seemed to have Oscar in trouble, but Tito was known to be a late starter and finish strong actually look stronger as a fight progressed. Oscar known to start fast and fade in close fights.
Yeah, well that's basically because I feel Trinidad peaked (perfomance wise on fight night) at 154lbs, and Oscar took a little longer to grow into 154lbs. The timing would have been on Trinidad's side imo if they ever had the rematch at 154 in DLH's first fight there, but Oscar also knew how to fight Trinidad so we can never know for sure. I agree about the dynamic of the fight with Oscar starting out strong but fading at the end, which would be Tito's chance to get the win.
Oscar boxed circles around Trinidad, was a robbery. Oscar was perfectly justified to get on his bicycle. As many of the greats through history have done when they have the fight won against a huge power puncher.
Good call. Idk about Tito finishing what he started he never seemed to have Oscar in trouble, but Tito was known to be a late starter and finish strong actually look stronger as a fight progressed. Oscar known to start fast and fade in close fights the opposite. Oscar would try his best to make it a boxing match Tito the contrary by trying his best to make it a war. A rematch might of been closer with Tito doing better, but with boxing politics and corruption Oscar might of gotten a decision. Just like Barrera-Morales I and II where many thought the loser was the winner. If their was a demand for DLH-Trinidad II we might of gotten one, but despite most feeling Tito shouldn't of gotten the decision and Oscar won, Dlh lost alot of fans by trying to cruise or what many called his chicken dance to an easy victory. Lack of action, failure to live up as "Fight of the Millenium", and a horrible decision I think made many fans especially casual fans make it a forgettable fight.
Tito has been chasing Oscar since round 6... he even made a youtube video calling Oscar "chicken" and telling him to step up for the rematch.
Tito didn't want to catch an STD via a cut, due to the fact DeLaHoya was getting involved in the whole transexual scene.
