Steve is wearing his shoes and he still looks a good 2 inches shorter than DLH barefoot. DLH looks to be in excellent shape, this isn't going to bode well for Forbes.
http://www.***********.com/index.php?m=show&id=13796 By Jake Donovan There appears to be confusion at the scales, or perhaps whether or not the Oscar de la Hoya-Steve Forbes announced noontime weigh-in was official. With nothing reported thus far, the only news to come from the scales in Los Angeles, California was that Forbes (33-5, 9KO) made the contracted limit of 150 lb, while de la Hoya (38-5, 30KO) was ½ lb over at 150.5 lb for their fight Saturday night at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA (HBO, 10PM ET/7PM PT). It’s standard industry practice for the official weigh-in to take place no sooner than 30 hours prior to the opening bell, which more often than not places such events at or around 5PM ET/2PM PT. It’s possible that today’s nooner at the scales was merely a show for the fans, with the official weigh-in to come at the more conventional time. The confusion came in when de la Hoya checked in slightly over the limit. He was still just over after removing his socks, and motioned for a towel to be placed in front of him in one last effort to make weight. Before he could perform the censored version of The Full Monty, he was told by Golden Boy Promotions representatives to jump off the scale and pose for the “official” stare down. The weight contradicts a statement made earlier in the week, when de la Hoya claimed to actually be closer to the official welterweight limit of 147 lb. No news on whether or not he will have to shed the ½ lb in order for the fight to go on as planned, though it’s highly unlikely a fight of this magnitude gets scrapped over such a small discrepancy. More to come...
When Forbes weighed in, he weighed in at 150. When Oscar weighed in, he weighed in at 150.5, but he had shorts and socks on. After Oscar weighed in, and they announced it, Oscar stepped back, took his socks off, and stepped back on... I think that he weighed 150 at that point, because they all nodded, and then they moved on. They just never announced another weight.
Oscar looks like he had to starve himself to make weight. His abs look wierd. Forbes looks solid. Im biased though cuz Forbes is my boy. Show everyone what u got Stevie!
On another boxing page, it said that DLH was gonna go naked and told people to put the towel in front of him, but then he had to pose for the staredown.
What do you mean? If you are weighing in with shorts and socks... the point is that you can ditch them both if you are a bit over. I used to do it all the time in wresting. Most of the time you just weigh in wearing nothing but your underwear. Some people have to get butt naked to make weight.
No, he told them to do that... but then he tried to weigh in after just taking off his socks. After he took of his socks, everything seemed to be fine.
First Oscar De La Hoya stepped on the scales and weighed in at 150.5. 30 seconds later he stepped on the scales again without his trunks but instead of telling the weight, Michael Buffer announced that Marco Antonio Barrera is on the stage... So Oscar might've weighed-in at the 2nd try 30 seconds later...
