This fight was on last night on golden boy classics. I actually had Oscar up 5-2 going into the 8th but damn did he lose a step, pretty much losing every round 8-12th. very close fight but Mosley just had more in the tank the last 4 rounds and consistently beat Oscar to the punch, but Oscar was very game and continued to pressure and hit Mosley back. I think Oscar's mistake was not respecting mosley's power and believing he could walk him down, take his shots and eventually KO Mosley. He had Mosley hurt in the 4 or 5th with a left hook that staggered him and mosley held on and didn't do anything the remaining minute of that round.
I really beleive Mosely was on soemthing for this fight remeinded me too much of the Pryor Arguello fight :bart
Wouldn't be surprised, this fight was a war and Mosley didn't really slow down. Looked like Oscar had him rethinking everything around the 3-6th and slowly looked to be taking over, but Oscar gassed just a bit as any fighter in a fight like this would, and Mosley took right over. Oscar's body shots were something though and don't think he got enough credit for these during the fight. He was taking Mosley's body apart and seemed to be affecting Shane but somehow Shane got a 2nd wind.
That 2nd wind was like a turbo boost .. I mean he was outlanding Oscar what 3-1 makes you think :think
Mosley's energy reserve is in his BBC. He was saving it for Jin, but then Oscar brought the fight and he needed it then. Mosley clean! :bart
BALCO happened much later; I believe we would have known were he using for other fights. Mosley was just in a groove that night; his confidence always seems to grow when he thinks he can catch and time you with his best shots.
This. Also factor in that was the biggest night of Mosley's life. He'd been in Oscar's shadow in the pro game for years, and this was his chance, his moment to establish himself to the main stream as one of the best fighters in the world. That night we saw a prime and peak Shane Mosley. No drugs. Oscar's biggest mistake was thinking he was the bigger man, when you look at the two of them, Shane is built thicker, he's much denser than Oscar is physically, so DLH never had a size advantage.
He couldn't really miss Oscar that night. Oscar really fought a dumb fight, I remember even Arum said he fought a moronic fight, felt he needed to prove he was a warrior due to the Trinidad fight.
Oscar did look bigger though, noticed that last night. His shoulders were well developed, even foreman and merchant mentioned this. Shane was the thicker of the two though, ya. Nobody knows what Mosley was on or not, but we do know he eventually got caught so who knows, but it's not as if cheating wasn't in his repertoire. But this Mosley, and Oscar UD the current or even prime Mayweather -- possibly KO him. They were on another level and the speed/power they had would be too much for even the fast Floyd.
Prime Mosley KOs Prime Mayweather. Prime Oscar UDs Mayweather. Prime Pac beats Prime Mosley and Prime Oscar.
I don't think Pac could survive their power/speed either in their prime but I do give him better shot than Floyd vs. them. Oscar did have more power than Shane. I can't remember who it was, but a common opponent said difference between Mosley and Oscar was Oscar hit him like a heavy. Shane was faster though
