He was the gold medalist with the heart-warming story, he has the looks to attract female fans, he can speak both English and Spanish to promote himself and his fights....He won a lot of fights earlier in his career that were big at the time, so he often gets criticized rather harshly.

Though it is true that a good number of his megafights were mediocre, or average.

Why don't we eliminate the ring and gloves, and throw them into an octogon with bareknuckles. I think that would surely bring boxing back to life.

    :lol

:smoke He looks and sounds kind of goofy to me ! He is a media creation with little substance ! Fact is he made a carreer beating smaller men and when he stepped up ( SWEAT PEE ) he should have lost ! His appeal is bizzar !:think

16 x 16 is a sparring ring. Get a grip, bunch of fake boxing fans. If you want to see unskilled brawling watch the damned UFC. Boxing is perfect the way it is. It Makes both styles work harder. Runners cant win a fight by running. They win a fight by hitting the slugger that hit and dont get hit. You guys just want to see your talentless mutt ass fighters do good and stop losing all the god damned time. ****ing clowns..like the same breed of clowns that try to change the rules when there dumb asses cant compete in any sport. Might as well give the bull**** sluggers points for punching air and arms.

Yeah, is very PC and rehearsed with the way he talks.

It's strange though with him and his controversial decisions. He got the decisions over Whitaker, Quartey, and Sturm. I thought he lost to Ike and Sturm and drew with Whitaker. He lost decisions to Trinidad and the Mosley rematch and I scored both of those fights for Oscar. The Quartey one annoys me the most because of the margins he won by, and how easy the fight was to score.

He fought his share of smaller guys moving up (Hernandez, Leija, Molina, Mayweather), or who had less experience at the weight (Mosley 2x), but he still has his share of clear victories over guys who were top contenders/titlists at the weight class they fought at: Ruelas, Gonzalez (well, he peaked at 135 but was ranked high @ 140 at the time), Rivera, Castillejo, Vargas, Chavez.

:nut Boxing as Far from perfect, get real.

ANdre Dirrell won on points running every round of his last fight.

You guys need to get real, eithet boxing adjusts for more offense or it will be in even sorse shape when DLH finally retires next year.

Most of their top fighters are not runners. Hatton, Cal and Kessler - when Kessler had every round won against Andrade the dude kept fighting and went for the KO in the last round to put on a show. . . guys like Fraud and Hops would NEVER care enough about the paying fans to even think about doing this.

Im not sure where to began with this crap. . . but here goes.

Guys like Hatton and Kessler etc understant that without the fans they wouldnt be where they are.

Its both a sport and entertainment . . . if it were not meant to be entertainment they wouldnt charge any admission. Come on man.

I concur wholeheartedly, oscar to me has never measured up in the ring, not with the great fighters of my generation.

Then that makes fighters who WANT TO FIGHT HIM even lamer.

DLH is a scum who uses his popularity to get fights he wants. But is that any worse then using the "I'm the P4P Best!" to get fights or turn down others? At least guys get paid against DLH...
