Oscar was no worse against Pac than Forbes

After reading all the people dismissing Manny's win I recently watched the first few rounds of De La Hoya - Forbes, and Oscar looked just as slow and poor as he did in the Manny fight.

The difference, of course, was that Manny is about four levels above Steve Forbes. Now I'm not saying that the victory was great, clearly De La Hoya was on a severe decline; I'm just saying that it wasn't only about weight. Manny would have KO'd De La Hoya just as easily on the night he fought Forbes.

I picked De La Hoya to easily beat Manny, but it wasn't because I thought De La Hoya was better than he was, it was because I didn't realize Pacquiao would be as great and explosive at the weight as he was. It wasn't the weight that undid De La Hoya, it was age and an excellent opponent.

I defy anyone to watch De La Hoya - Forbes and tell me that Oscar could beat Manny Pacquiao. (although for your sake I hope you just take my word, the fight is pretty awful.)

I said Oscar was **** against Forbes, while others said he was good, IMO Berto beat Forbes worse than Oscar, he should've never went south of 154.

I agree. Oscar looked pretty similar the first couple rounds against Pacquiao; at least he was throwing punches. After that I thought he just looked embarrassed and wanted it to be over as soon as possible.

There were people on here who thought Hoya looked good against Forbes?!

Granted, the only outcome I could really see (win or lose) was Pac getting hurt in the process and shaving some time off his peak years - so, I was too pissed off at the match being made in the first place to really make predictions beyond that. I had no idea that whole Mongolian Keshik (light cavalry)-looking gameplan could be executed so perfectly! Oscar was waiting and waiting for the "inevitable" war, first to trade and, later on, just to be put on his butt and get up as slowly as possible.

It's debatable whether that floating head that was Oscar could have won a toe-to-toe war, but that's beside the point... Pac wouldn't allow Hoya to create one, so it turned into well-crafted/executed plan vs. "Aw, hell, whadda we do now?" plan

He looked very average against Forbes...but he clearly was weaker physically against Pac..Not really hard to spot.

I agree with this.....i thought after i saw oscar's face i nthe post fight against forbes....i knew he was gone.......i still think at this moment oscar can bang at 154 but he got out at the right time.....and forbes would have done better against manny at 147
