Nah, he ran Floyd the P4P no1 fairly close and beat Forbes. Jones had been done for half a decade. Also Manny moving up to 145 would have been like Calzaghe moving to Heavyweight.

Calzaghe was red hot favourite to beat Jones, Oscar was red hot favourite to beat Pac. Work it out!!

When RJJ-Joe was announced, everyone was like"This is a mismatch, Jones is shot to pieces!".

When Pac-Hoya was announced, everyone was like "This is a mismatch, a circus, DLH kills him, Hoya KO1!".

Right great point. GTFO of here!

Infact, everyone was saying Jones would beat Calzaghe due to being bigger, ''supposedly'' faster etc etc, among them a number of boxing greats including Lewis.

Most of the fans on here were saying Calzaghe was getting KO'ed ( though they would differ between Calzaghe winning because Roy was shot, to Roy being too classy so they could use an excuse afterwards!)

What we saw in the fight was, for the first time in Jones career, him showing heart, he showed his old speed, ring awareness, and proved the old adage of '' great fighters have 1 last great fight'' and this was it, unfortunately Calzaghe was just always a better fighter, and of the same era, so the age thing can't be used.

Its important to note that although Oscar is clearly past his physical prime, even when in his prime he was NEVER capable of dealing with fast speedy punchers. Shane had him in fits, Vargas and Tito did the same throughout there fight, Floyd did the same and now Manny. Oscar just couldnt get off because Manny was like a whirling dirvish. His defense was VERY impressive. He was in an out faster than Oscar could even respond or counter. By the time Oscar had thrown a jab Manny would land 4 to his single punches. Very impressive win for Manny. I dont think anyone expected a former flyweight to go up that many divisions and stop a bonafide welter with sound boxing. Mannys actually better than a i thought he was. Back at the lower weights he simply used to overpower his opponents and fought with reckless abandon. Now that he`s got Roach his flourished tremendously. Great night of boxing.

Fact - Joe was 3/1 favourite for this fight by the bookmakers. Just cos a few people says RJJ can do it doesnt mean he would. I called Calzaghe to beat RJJ easy and even put all my vcash on it. I called Pac to beat or stop Oscar and won real money on it.

What we saw in the Jones fight and is what we already seen in tarver, Johnson fights. Except Joe couldnt stop him.

Oscar is now past his best I saw leaks in the steve forbes fight, Oscar should have knocked him out. 5 years ago Oscar would have knocked Manny out in 5 rounds, Oscar just doesn't have it anymore he should retire. The fight reminded me of Muhammad Ali vs Larry Holmes.

It was only the WW limit I bet DLH could move up to 154 and beat Phillips, Angulo or Mayorga again.
