First of all, im gona take my hat off to manny. what a performance. I, like many other posters on here said de la hoyas size was gona be too much to handle but il hold my hands up and say i was dead wrong. A great performance. Now on to my main point. Oscar was awful. It was one of the worst performances ive seen from a fighter in the last 10 years. To beat a fighter like manny, you have to throw punches. Oscars punch output was terrible. People who say Manny will destroy Hatton are wrong. He will beat Hatton imo, but at least Hatton will throw punches and at least try to win. Oscar just didn't look bothered. Any thoughts?
I think one judge gave de la hoya one round but it must have been a sympathy vote. Really dude, BAD!!!!!
you can't throw punches at an opponent who isn't there. And then you throw a punch, miss, and eat 10 in return? Pac was a beast. Phenominal
Oscar was cautious in throwing punches because of pac's speed both hand and foot. This is exactly what Roach's has been saying... "Oscar can no longer pull the trigger".
the reason oscar looked so terrible is because of the guy he was fighting was hungry and wanted it. if oscar was in there against steve forbes again, he would have won and wouldnt have been a big deal. but looks awful because he got his ass smoked by pacman? PACMAN is the reason for him looking AWFUL......the better man won, forced his will and took the fight to him and out of him. all credit goes to pacman for what he did and not what oscar didnt do
yes it was terrible, I lost money on Oscar, but cant complain really "smashed to bits" as Hayemaker would say
Yes because we know he could have done better or at least throw a few more punches but he opted to fold and quit.
If you looked at oscar from Round 1 even, he looked as stiff as can be. He had no movement, no body movement and just looked sluggish and slow when he threw punches. Then add to the fact that his punches had no snap even after 3 and you could tell that Oscar was done. Manny whipped that ass though!
When I heard he was coming into the ring at 147, I'm not going to lie... I thought De La Hoya had lost his mind. Perhaps one of the dumbest acts ever committed on the grand stage. For those who have read De La Hoya's book; this wasn't the first time he's gone into the ring under handicap because of his idiotic choices.
Its just that simple......even *******s could'nt hope beyond their wildest dreams that Pac would handle DLH like that. DLH just was'nt a step slow, he was multiple steps slow. "After the first round, we knew he had no legs. He was shot!" This is Freddie Roach's statement right after the fight. Major credit has to go to Pac however, climbing two divisions up and beating DLH is still an impressive feat any way you cut the matter.
