people knew Oscar was shot before the fight. He was still supposed to beat PAcquiao because of his size advantage.
One example; he laid out and/or confined himself to a tanning bed for extended periods in the days just prior to a big fight, and on the night was so physically weak he claimed his legs were shaking to the point of collapse as he made his ringwalk.
I'll give Pacquiao more credit than that...... before tonight, I would'nt label DLH as a shot fighter. Naturally most fighters at his age range slip some from thier prime years, but calling him shot before tonight, would be unfair. Unfortunately for Pac, this is one of those fights that for as spectacular as he looked, he gets less credit by most for doing so than if he had beaten a competitive DLH.
Divac you're a hypocrite. I thought you thought hoya would just ko pac easily? You even ridiculed roach as going only after the money and knowing that pac has no chance on hoya! Now you're safing off saying "hoya is shot based on our assessment last night and pac should'nt get credit?" ..wow! I like you like a *** because you're such a smart ass but you're turning me off by statements like that! Be a man and accept losing, d! I bet jmm is pissing on his pants right now on what he saw on that fight.
Btw, pac can also easily beat a competetive hoya on his prime. Pac came in as underdog last night and hoya supposed to deliver the goods but where was it? The reason for that is because pac is no longer dimensional and has improved his defense on a higher scale that even elites can't touch him. If multi dimensional pac faces hoya back when he was still on the welters, pac would still dominate him. End this pathetic excuses divac, credit pac where credit is due. Don't ruin your "smart ass" pacteron name by being a sour graper!
There was a poll here and majority said Oscar was past his prime but not SHOT. Oscar moving down was one factor but it was pac's hand and foot speed that made him looked more shot that he actually was. Hell I thought David diaz was shot also when he fought pac.
Oscar looked like a mummy wearing boxing gloves. For those who thought Roy Jones looked bad, Oscar told Roy to move over. This is why Oscar has lost a lot of people's respect long ago. It is obvious from his performance last night that he & his camp would have known from training camp that he would not be able to perform adequately.
i lost php 10,000 and felt happy for it.:deal seriously i wanted to have a consolation in case manny loses, throw up a beer drinking session at home after manny lose. lol, war manny, people in gensan owes u an apology.
I didn't know Oscar was shot. There is a distinct difference between a fighter being shot and past his prime. I don't care what the weight disparity, a shot fighter is never going to overcome a fighter of Manny's quality. I think De La Hoya showed enough quality in his previous two fights to suggest to the fans that he may have been past his best, but certainly not shot. I don't know if it was the weight, but that wasn't De La Hoya in the ring.
atsch Comments just get worse and worse. Diaz's entire career has been him looking sluggish and having right hands bounce off his face for 12 rounds. Many people expected that type of domination. Oscar has been in with some of the best Welterweights of the past 10 years, and more than held his own. The difference between what we saw last night and the Oscar of 2000 is like Night and Day. Just as Calzaghe got credit beating Jones, we still acknowledged how shot Jones was. Same thing here.
Oscar has basically been retired since the first Mosley loss. That is when he stopped fighting for the glory and started fighting for the money. Or in other words that is when he retired as a boxer and started his career as a businessman first and sportsman second. We shouldn't forget that up to and including that Mosley fight, he was a fantastic boxer. One of the best ever from 130-147. After that, he showed flashes of greatness but mostly was living off his past glories. Credit to Pac, he was awesome and would have given any version of Oscar a run for his money and I'd give him a great chance against even prime Oscar. But let's be honest, that was a shell in there. It was a fighter vs a punching bag. Pac would have had harder sparring sessions in training camp.
