i haven't read any responses to this but i think you will get a flogging ;)

    oscar isn't a 'great' fighter..he's HOF.

floyd clearly won his fight against oscar and only the weight they fought at made it semi-competitive.

DLH couldn't ice a drug addict version of Whitaker in the 8th and almost lost that fight, I don't think he will KO Mayweather, no way in hell. If you beat someone like Mayweather it will be in an ugly, close and dirty fight. That's how any great slick/defense fighter legitimately loses unless a one punch KO occurs.

Mayweather has movement even at welterweight and still is hard to hit, I believe he also proved that he can take a punch really well and can recover really well too. One punch KO from Hoya in the 8th looks like nonsense to me.

Convincingly maybe no one.....but that doesn't mean he wasn't a GREAT fighter bro. There are always styles that cause fighters problems. Even Floyd and PAC have their problems with certian styles they go up against.

Sweet Pea ALONE should have been the smack in the face that brought you to realize how good this kid from East LA was. Sure it was contraversail....and sure many felt Pernell won, but everyone knew it was a close fight which typically NEVER happened with Pernelle. I actually gave that fight to DLH by 1 measley round. but I remember thinking to myself how close the fight was and really didn't know what the judges cards were gonna read.

And DLH back then was more one demensional than he became especailly after teaming up with Sr. If you think Sweet Pea dominated or beat DLH EASILY in their fight then I know we'll not see eye to eye on this one. Some people just hat DLH and they never give the man his dues. I like DLH as a fighter....he always fought the best...win, lose or draw. The guy wasn't the best boxer but was supremely talented and have incredible desire to be the best. He catches a bad wrap by a lot of folks.

Yeah, in certain situations they did have the talent.

But you'll notice all those guys were guys who thought about their punches and would stand in front of floyd and give him time to think.

Castillo didn't, he just pressured him and bullied him and beat him.

Ever since castillo it has been guys who tire down the stretch or don't circle and and throw at him.

Judah did, and did well, but he got tired and quit down the stretch like he always does.

His only notable win at 147 is spinks.

Oscar abandoned his jab and quit down the stretch like he normally did. Floyd even predicted it.

I am not saying this **** to knock floyd's talent or skills, i'm just saying there were more credible and probably less lucrative challenges to him over the years.

Choosing gatti at 140 when he did was a joke. Everyone knows that.

i hope you're trolling because oscar squeeked past an old pernell.

pernell v. floyd would be a much better deal than oscar - floyd.

oscar could bang but his defence sucked.

Old pernell is better than WW floyd.

Any pernell is better than floyd.

See.....even the "addict" version of Pernelle was a beast homie. DLH was impressive regardless of the excuses folks try to come up with to discredit the win.....just like the excuses they make for why Floyd is as great as he is or Manny. It's just a shame folks over analyze these tremendous boxers and their accomplishments just b/c they may not like them outside the ring or the style they have in it.:verysad

Oscar is definitely a great fighter. Just take a good look at his fighting ability and accomplishments, if it's only HOF material then how many are in the HOF that didn't accomplish not even 20%. 10 time world champion, six weight division champion, beat 17 world champions and olympic gold medalist. How many have done the same in this sport?

HOF fighters are ones like Buster Douglas, Joe Calzaghe, Antonio Tarver, Ernie Shavers and so on. Basically in my opinion, Hall of fame are fighters that did great but could have done better. All time great fighters are ones that have special accomplishments only special fighters similar to them can accomplish.

why are you even mentioning gatti? did anyone here even say gatti had the talent to beat floyd? No. That was more of a business move than anything, but he put a good whoopin on a good not great fighter none the less. Every single fighter ever has had a fight that was just a business move. You can't even give floyd **** for that. But thats off of the topic of this thread Luke Hoe. The fact is that, Castillo, Corrales(regardless of his legal woes), judah, and mosley ALLL had the talent to beat floyd. Not just Oscar, and THAT right there is why the thread title is completely false mu****a.

    Oscar is an ATG.

He has the best resume of any boxer in years, even if some of the fights were losses.

I'm not creating any excuse, that was a legitimate great win. Pernell was reigning as champion at the time and P4P#1, that can't be denied regardless of excuse.

And about mentioning being sick about what happens out of the ring that could affects performance, that's very normal. It's OUT OF THE RING how they made it in the ring, remember?. Personal problems always matter and can affect anyone's performance.
