Just look at DLH vs Shane I, DLH would lose to another slick, fast fighter like FM! And was SM better than FM? I doubt it!

the main reason the golden fishnet gave mayweather trouble (winning 4 of 12 rounds) is because he's bigger and made mayweather fight at a weight class where floyd has no business being. floyd isn't even a big welter let alone a jr. middle. how many lbs. bigger was oscar on fight night?

similar result at 147 in their primes.

alright, maybe a tad closer. 7-5 pbf instead of 8-4.

If you have 2 minutes to read...

It's a very tough question. If I haven't seen the fight of the two I'd probably pick Floyd by SD. But I've seen it (PBF won by 3 points on my card) and one thing was obvious: if there's ONE Achilles-heel in Floyds style it is his less effective defense against a quick long jab (and maybe that he’s picking his punches too carefully so it’s easy to outnumber him to convince the judges even with lower connect percentages.)

Oscar won all of his clear rounds (maybe 3) with just the jab in May. Now Oscar in his prime was very fast on his feet (just watch his fights, it's important to see the big difference), his jab was very effective when he used it and even if he wasn't a jab-based fighter, he'd have used the jab all night if the two had meet in 1999. De La Hoya was not only faster on his feet but had faster hands, threw quicker combinations and most of all he was a MORE ACCURATE PUNCHER. That's what Manny Steward saw in the fight in last May, Oscar’s lack of accuracy. Very few good punches landed and even if it was 70% of Floyd’s defense, the other 30% is very important because I believe that the power with cleaner shots would’ve changed the whole style of the fight (actually it would’ve been a FIGHT not a sparing session).

Stamina was always a problem in the highest level in Oscar's career and I feel that would've been a problem in a 1999 DLH vs. 2007 Mayweather fight too. But there's a difference. DLH stamina was better in 1999 not just because he was younger but because he was a busy fighter then. Now before May 5 he had only one fight in 3 years and you know he was knocked out in another weight and that’s important too. So he became flat-footed. Less accurate. Slower. The stamina was a major issue after the 6th. Couldn’t really back up Floyd with good power punches. COULDN’T MATCH FLOYD’S SPEED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING so the whole fight was in control there for Floyd.

The combinations, the movement and jabs, the power, everything was truly amazing in DLH's finest days. Maybe he was at his absolute prime before he met Tito, probably in his LW/LWW years. So at LW/LWW, based upon the May 5 fight and with DLH's far better movement, speed, accuracy and power and slightly better punch output and punch variety I'd pick him to defeat the Pretty Boy on points (3-4). The advantage in power and physic would've been a bigger factor since he could've used it effective. He couldn't really use those advantages in 2007. He couldn’t do anything in the middle of the ring. So it's a tough fight but I'm sure that the larger part of the experts would pick DLH defeating PBF in his prime based upon these (and maybe other) points.

    World Peace.

Floyd always beats oscar! I think in the Floyd Oscar fight we didn't see the best of floyd he was too cautious; I think if he had stepped it up he could have really made te win desicive.

In my opinion this question rests on one thing; would PBF be aware of Oscar's talent at that weight? That is, would he take more chances, go in for the kill? Only then would DLH be able to land the punches he needs to hurt Mayweather. Right now, Mayweather is too aware of nullifying Oscar's left hand for Oscar to truly hurt him. Back then, maybe Mayweather would not have been as careful. But Oscar was willing to let go of his punches then against a pure boxer. Now he sits on them like Trinidad and stalks.

ok so let me get this straight....

a faded once a year fighter oscar brings mayweather to a SD...

but the best oscar ever still loses... i guess by... SD????

that logic doesnt make sense to me

The only thing i can think of is you think mayweather would just raise his game to beat hoya no matter how much better oscar is...

But i am indeed curious.... anyone...

    - If oscar would have won just 1 or 2 more rounds (i believe... i could be wrong on that) he would have won

And that is a faded, fighting once a year, promoting hoya...

how is it that a prime, badass hoya doesnt win that extra 2 rounds?

No, he didn't dude, quit making **** up. The knees buckling were just the legs finding themselves unbalanced and then shifting to balance themselves.

i think that too actually... and i can see with how by that logic you would think that mayweather would always have enough to beat hoya...

but for all we know, that IS the best mayweather could do... and if it is then theres no doubt in my mind that prime oscar beats him.

but i do tend to think mayweather did just what he had to do without taking any further chances, to win the fight, and if hoya somehow raised the bar, he would do the same.
