I think a lot of the damage (at least around his right eye) was caused by the weird uppercut that Forbes caught him with.
Oscar fought the same way he's always fought ... he was attempting to get 12 rounds in. It was obvious Forbes' defense was far better than Oscar expected. Oscar was throwing a ton of meaningless punches, alot of them missed or were caught by Forbes' gloves. I think that Oscar too far more shots than he did against Floyd and Forbes, unlike Floyd took it upon himself to engage Oscar. Oscar boxed well but it showed what I already knew ... Oscar is a one handed fighter - who throws alot of meaningless punches. His most effective punch was the left hook ... He got his jab in there, but Forbes kept his jab consistant so it nullified Oscars jab. I thought that Oscar won ... but it was alot closer than the white wash that the cards showed at the end. Forbes caught Oscar with some sneaky punches that were effective ... I had Forbes winning 5 rounds ... 113-115
You best watch out, the anti Hatton brigade will be out in full force with that remark, according to them Hatton never won a round:hey
Naw....he was hit with some, but very few clean shots. He won every round by pure aggression and controlling the action. I ddin't give forbes any rounds but he did fight gamely...he was just overe matched by the better fighter.
WTF!!! :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl Dude....Boxing is not your thing man. if you really are serious about this post. Forbes ate plenty of jabs and oscar did a lot of great body work. He did miss alot but that is expected b/c Forbes is a great defensive fighter. But he lost every round easily.....he did well in spots but they were EXTREMELY short lived and DLh took control when ever Steve rallied off a combo. You have to be joking.!
Oscar's face was far more damaged than it was against Floyd, Hopkins, Trinidad, and Mosley. Oscar had a mouse under his left eye and his right eye was swollen ... his lips were puffy ... his nose was cut and bruised .. He didn't look fresh after the fight either ... I think more of a poor performance by Oscar - it was a great effort by Forbes ... the HBO commentators were on some bull**** ... they gave Forbes no respect ... all those guys did was prove that they didn't know anything about boxing. Even Steward who is so bias and will go along with whatever is scripted for the fight. He's showing that his knowledge in viewing a fight isn't that great ... I see why they don't have RJJ, Foreman, or Lewis ... because those guys wouldn't have went by the script and they more than likely wouldve gave Forbes some credit for doing what he did in the fight. They wouldve down played Oscar's performance and ruined the drama for the up coming Floyd v Oscar rematch.
You guys need to start watching the fights and stop listening to the commentators ... maybe you should mute the TV and go with your own opinion. If you watched the fight closly ... Oscar's production fell off after the 7th round ... he was throwing a ton of meaningless punches ... he was also getting caught on the way in. If Oscar was doing so much with the jab ... if he was doing so much work to the body ... why couldn't he knock this guy out - who was obviously smaller, less strong, and not as fast? Why couldn't he even score a knockdown against a guy who's done his best work at lightweight and hasn't fought any strong welterweights? Why couldn't Oscar do what Cotto did to Gomez? ... I don't see any difference in talent?
Some of you guys don't know boxing ... you use bias when making a decision and you let a fighters past accomplishments and performances cloud your judgement. If you would watch the fight on mute and stop listening to commentators ... maybe you wouldve seen the fight for what it was ...
Dude, I really wanted Oscar to loose... That said, DAMN what the **** were you watching? At the very best, Forbes won 1 round.:-(
