Oscar's performance vs floyd most overrated of all time.

but was out landed by Whitaker. Whitaker's ring generalship, along with landing the only KD of the fight, and out hitting Oscar won him the fight. It was certainly close, but I had Whitaker winning.

Floyd won his rounds more convincingly so, all in all, a Split Decision victory for Floyd was the correct result.

I don't think the Withaker fight was Oscar at his best. He was in his physical prime but he was still a bit green at world level. I think the Oscar from the Trinidad fight would have fared better against Pernell.

I agree with your general point though. Although Oscar became a smarter fighter he was never that smart during his prime years. He had all the physical tools to beat beat Mayweather, speed, strenght and power. But I very much doubt that he could put them together. He always seemed to fight the wrong fight.

In my opinion Oscar was the best fighter out of a very talented group. Vargas, Mosley Trinidad, Quartey were all very good but Oscar was better. Yet he managed to lose to half of them (some even say he lost to 3 out of 4). That tells me all I need to know. Mayweather always fought the right fight. I think he would outsmart a prime Oscar and take a decision.

How was the Mayweather-Judah fight close?

Judah's performance has become seriously overrated over time.

Just to find out what all the fuss was about, I rewatched the fight again recently.

Judah won no more than 3 rounds.

He won the first two because Floyd wasn't doing much and probably measuring him out.

3rd round was a Floyd round because Floyd put his foot down on the gas a bit more.

4 round was 50/50, maybe Judah edged it.

The rest of the fight was a one sided beat down.

Same with the Maidana fight. Maidana made Floyd work for it and pushed an aged Floyd to his limits but sorry he didn't do enough to win. And Floyd bought a lot of that upon himself for laying on the ropes too much. In the rematch Floyd completely took Maidana apart.

Its the same as the idiots who claim the Cotto fight was close. It wasn't. Cotto pushed Floyd all the way but he only won 2-3 rounds if I remember correctly.

Round 6, the first round Cotto won was wholly because Floyd let his foot off the gas.

I haven't seen the Castillo fights so I cant comment on those.

 

Well wrote. Oscar could have taken the decision had he been able to keep the jab sharp and coming but the zip was gone after the 6th. Still it was a close fight.
