"Street Fighter" or "The African Assassin" aka "Lord of the Ring"?

On the Gervonta Brown Davis vs. Ryan García Quesada pay-per-view undercard. WBA super middleweight "regular" title at stake, fourth defense of Morrell. Agbeko (no relation to Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko, though he did idolize him growing up) is ranked #9 by the WBA.

Morrell is a prohibitive -735 favorite over Agbeko.

Morrell is vastly overrated on this forum but he'll make short work of Agbeko.

The previously unbeaten prospect that Agbeko upset last October to build up his name and earn a world ranking, Isaiah "Z-Wop" Steen, is actually fighting tonight - against Lester Normandy Martínez Tut, who stopped Ricardo Mayorga in his pro debut a few years ago. That one looks a bit closer & more interesting, to me.

I fully expect Morrell to stay on the back foot and outpoint him, Agbeko's beard is solid, and he hits hard enough to keep Morrell honest, so maybe after a round or two, when he realizes Sena isn't going anywhere he'll settle into rhythm and go through the motions. Perhaps try to stop him late, although after what happened with Yerbossynuly, who knows how that affected him. That being said, I'm fully rooting for Agbeko, he seems like one of the most level headed, genuinely nicest guys in the sport. I clicked on this for a second when I was looking up fight footage of him, but ended up leaving it on in the background, because it's nice to hear a boxer who isn't a delusional full of himself blowhard, sensibly assessing his career up to this point.

I find Ghanaians more often likable than not, probably in higher proportion than most countries p4p.

    Likeable champions and HOF candidates:
Ike Quartey, Joshua Clottey, Joe Agbeko, Nana Konadu, Azumah Nelson
    Likeable journeymen and perennial contenders:
Ben Tackie, Ossie Duran, Kofi Jantuah, Yakubu Amidu, Fredrick Lawson, Abraham Tabul,

    vs. the notable "meh" list:
Emmanuel Tagoe, Isaac Dogboe, Richard Commey, Duke Micah, Charles Adamu.

(and even some of those guys can produce the odd very exciting round or fight with the right dance partner; I just can't find a single rat's arse cheek to give about them in general )

Agbeko is out with injury, replaced by Yamaguchi Falcão Florentino.

IMO that's an opponent downgrade. Despite their early hype carried over from the amateurs, Guchi and his brother have both been pretty goddamn mid as pros.

They're like the Brazilian version of fellow super middleweight fizzlers the Chudinovs. :sisi1
