Otabek Kholmatov born July 22, 1998 is a 5'7 Featherweight with a 10-0 9 KO's record. Born in Sirdaryo, Uzbekistan and fighting out of Hollywood, Florida, USA. Not a hell of a lot is known about this very heavy handed southpaw, who turned pro in August of 2021, but one thing is for certain he takes his Warrior moniker seriously, because he's not mucking about, he's already had 10 fights and he's only 8 months into his career. I don't think he was an amateur all that long and didn't achieve much on the world level, but he certainly held his own at the regional level, which still says quite a lot, since the Uzbeks have been producing top tier talent for quite some time now. He took Bronze at the 2016 Youth World Championships Saint Petersburg – Bronze Medalist, he won Silver at the 2016 Asian Youth Championships, 2018 International Tournament Makhachkala and the 2018 Elite Uzbekistan Championships and he snagged Gold at both the Youth Uzbekistan Championships and Junior Uzbekistan Championships in 2015. Now that he's turned pro, at the tender age of 23, he already looks like a polished finished product. While in his first 9 matches, he was finishing guys off relatively quickly, his longest match going 4, he really showed just how talented he was in late March of 2022, when he took on fellow unbeaten Andranik Grigoryan, which saw him going the distance for the first time in his career. Not only was he sharp as a tack for the first 4 rounds of the fight, but he was able to maintain that form for all 12 rounds, against a solid also very skilled pressure fighter who rarely gave him a moment's rest. He knows he's damn good and he's cocky about it, dropping his hands several times during the fight, even putting one hand behind his back. Granted, he should probably rein that in, because it's obnoxious, but give him a look and you'll see why he thinks so highly of himself. He controls range exceptionally, his straight left is like a ramrod piston, his jabs to the head and body are immaculate, and his combination punches and looping hooks to the body are a thing of beauty. Call me crazy, I think Kholmatov is capable of already beating several in the top 20 at Featherweight. Check Out the very impressive Hollywood Kholmatov in action. Nice engine as he seems to control his energy while picking and landing shots. Kid will make a splash
thanks Chris will watch with the wife tomorrow evening on the terrace boxing was a bit dead to us, but we watched Golovkin - Murata and we look back forward to your new updates
Almost disappointing he came stateside, better competition in and around his weight class overseas. Imagine if Shakur Stevenson had to come up through the 126/130 scene in EE/Eurasia? Any one of them maybe he wins but he'd be 24 going on 40 at this point if he went through the circuit.
