Yet the post fight check up DID find something...so I guess you have no point....

    :verysad

Heart defects are tough to find and detect. My dad has a bad heart and found out he had it for a few years before they found it...even tho he had check ups and such during that time.

Fighters in the 54th pro fight are usually old or on the downside. Ali was hit far more than Wlad was, so who was harder to catch? Maybe Kltischko, but part of that is power, height, and better fundamentlas on defense.

No, Mildenberg was not as good as Ibragimov, and keep in mind Wlad beat Ibragimov in his prime, in shape, and took his un-defeated " 0 ". These are impressive things, even if the fight was dull.

You seem like a good poster Carl. Check out the classic section. I think you might like it there.

See Punsihers reply above, because it really is not relvenant that the HW giving the better performance is a champion, and , for that matter, the weight class is not even relevant to the point you are attempting to establish...also...using "great HW" and Wlad is woefully overestimating his legacy to this point

Oh sure, Holyfield's heart condition was soooo bad he continued fighting after the Moorer loss. Is it not odd that Holyfield's heart conditon was not an issue in other fights? Fighters with real heart conditions are not allowed to fight.

Face it, it was a bogus excuse. Holyfield has them when he looses.

Mendoza- I have named at least 5 fights where a great Heavyweight beat a good southpaw quite easily, but yet you still dont accept it. I am obviously not a Wlad fan, but I recognize he's a great talent, but I refuse to consider him a great fighter until he shows he can go toe to toe with an oppenent without falling all over the place.

Foreman pretty much lost every round to Moorer up until the 10th when he scored the KO.

Wlad legacy is not set. He is an active fighter who can end up as a great heavyweight. I would not say Wlad is a top 10 all time great at heavyweight.

This is not a legacy thread at all. The Wlad haters are just tying to grasp for whatever straws they can get. The thread is about looking good vs ranked heavyweight southpaws and beating them. Here, Wlad is at the top of the list.

Oh, so you think Rhaman, and Ike were all time greats then? Please defend this statement.

I get the hunch you waited until I gave you the names of some southpaws, then clicked on box rec to see who they fought. Yep.:deal

Just accept the fact that beating a ranked southpaw and looking good is rare among heavyweight champions. Wlad did it....THREE times.

I agree thats Wlads legacy is not set..which is why I italized "...to this point" in my psot. I worte this earlier in another thread,,,to misunderstand what I am saying as "wlad hating' is like saying that I hate water becasue i say it freezes at 32f. Look..you have good points...but please, answer me this...my is it important to the point you are tyring to make/stance you are trying to establish/critcism you are trying to retort that the criteria be not only Heavy Weights, but Heavy/weight champions. I understand that one should never put his pride before his pocketbook.....yet, this was not the case last night....Wlad could have and should ahve taken Iggy out...in the very least he should have performed better. Arent you, as a Wlad fan, concerend for why he did not? the glory lies not within the destination, it lies within the journey...how glorious was that journey for Wlad last night?

Mendoza..correction..even you will admit this...he did it twice....against the same opponent (byrd)...he did not do it last night...or against Sanders....so, he looked good 2 of 4 times fighting SP fighter, or against 1 of 3 opponents...he clearly does not hold the 'titled" as 'the southpaw destroying'...yet, by beating Byrd convincinglly twice, proved it can be done...and, ironically, by the same fighter drawing the ire of many afan....which contradicts your point......

I dint say Rahman and Ike are great, but they were good Heavyweights. I didnt have to look on boxrec to come up with the fights I did, you gave the names and I came up with the fights in my head, I have an extensive collection of tapes I view often, I think any decent poster on here could remember the fights I named. Beating 3 southpaws dont make you anything special IMO, I really dont get all the importance or significance of it, but I guess everyone has there own opinions.

No, I am not concerned about Wlad at all. He was on a huge roll before this fight with great performances over Byrd, Brock, Peter, and Austin.

This was one fight, and Wlad won it with shocking ease without risking anything.

Ibragimov is no bum. He nearly Ko'd Savon in the gold medal match in the Olympics, was un-defeated until last night and has never been stopped as a pro. If Wlad struggled to beat Ibragimov, or was Ko’d then I would be worried.

And speaking of the chin, Wlad was Ko’d what 3 times in 54 fights at heavyweight? Is this bad? Let us cut to the chase. The bald truth is some past greats at heavyweight were knocked out more frequently and by lesser punchers. You might get that. Other yahoos who don't know the histroy of the sport won't.

IMO Wlad was robbed of a knockdown, and if Ibragimov fougth more agressively, he would have been knocked out.

Wlad has beaten more than 3 southpaws....

Koch is another who comes to mind. He 25-1, Wlad crushed him in four. Kock came to fight, and so did Wlad.

Again, beating ranked southpaws is not easy. That is my point. Ask a trainer if you aren't buying it.

mendoza...you make good points, and this discussion is both enjotable and engrossing. please take a moment to answer the question I posed in the psot your replied to, regarding the relevance of the weight class and champion.

Also, as many an Iggy hater/Wlad supported pointed out, Iggy fought to a controversial 'draw' against austin. One fight does not a fighter make, granted..yet it is a fight. i would argue also that there are many non HW champs that were knocked out less oftern and fought bigger bangers. Point is...fighting with extreme caution agaisnt an opponent that can be exposed is neither crowd pleasing or legacy building. if he KO's his next opponent dramitically, we will likley all forget about this performace...but, we live in the present.

Finally, even his trainer was telling him he should KO this guy, this should be over, etc. Why, is a fight mentions this, or debated the point that he performed poorly, is this not valid?

By pointing to the Koch fight, you are not supporting your point regarding performance versus a south paw...you also are moving the goal psots, as you said champion.....and wlad was not a champion in the Koch fight.

Beating a Sp is "tricky' but can be done, and impressively. Even Wlad showed us this against Byrd. However....this does not in any way explain his lackluster performance last night.
