Tyson - "I knocked Buster out earlier in the fight!"

Hearns (really Stewards excuse for him): "I got a massage and couldn't move!"

    excellent point

holyfield was always allowed to headbutt people
    just like hopkins

but if you do anything to them
    they cry like a *****

its interesting how certain fighters can do this

hbo showed the thumb in the eye that
    hopkins gave pascal
and talked about it like it crafy

    i mean FCUK YOU
    crafty

if golota or tyson did that
they would screaming that boxing needs to be fixed lol

When did Tyson say that. I thought that was King with all the long-count nonsense.

    Tyson-Seldon.

Seldon said the punch that looked to have missed that he went down from was "sort of an elbow that brushed a nerve or something".

It was hardly a convincing excuse.

He seemed to be going along with it at the press conference King held, to be fair he has given Buster full credit in the time that passed.

Mike never said that, it's another fake Tyson quote.

Don King was just desperate to reverse the result to "Tyson KO8", because of the 13 second count, but as people have stated, a fighter must get up with a "referee's count of 10", not literally 10 seconds as recorded by the timekeeper. The WBA blacklisted the ref after the fight, & King tried to get Buster's black neighborhood to turn against him as a villain.

I didn't mean to imply that either were legit quotes, I was just using that as a format to put the excuses across (I know, I used quote marks when I really shouldn't have- my bad). :patsch

Malignaggi blamed Buddy McGirt for messing up his style. He mentioned it months after losing to Hatton;i guess he had plenty of time to come up with something.

Tyson gave Buster credit and accepted the lost immediately. He let King continue with the shenanigans. He wasn't about to contradict his promoter, but he hardly made the excuse. In fact, I think he mentioned losing and having lost before and how it happens and he'll be fine.

Azumah Nelson's "I had malaria," Holyfield's "God told me I would win," and Harold Johnson's "I ate a poisoned orange" have to take the cake here.

Tyson was elbowing, butting, and hitting Holyfield low too. Saying Holyfield was the only guy fighting dirty in either fight is revisionist history. Also, in the first fight, the two worst headbutts of the fight, Mike caused by rushing in. 100% his fault on those.

Defense of Evander aside, I don't think Mike ever truly used them as excuses, just sort of said, they happened, and they hurt. I've never heard him say, I lost because of headbutts, with regards to the first Holyfield fight. Mike, aside from the ear bite debacle, handled his losses like a man, in general.

Pacquiao's socks and gloves were pretty bad. Gotta say Haye's toe appalled me.
