Nobody said "peak" but prime. It can't be used as excuse for his defeat

Chavez takes him at 135. Welter was too much a reach for Julio.. and 90 fights was too far to go.

No.chavez would not beat him at any weight class.it is all about your fantasy. The only important thing is what happened when they fought

If you want to dwelve deeper Chavez had more mileage on the clock, took more punishment on the whole and first won a title at a lower weight than Whitaker.

Again this was not peak Chavez and yes, nor Whitaker. Tho the consensus would i think noticeably favor Whitaker at their 135 bests the dynamics of the fight may well be somewhat different.

Ok so an aged Whitaker beats a slightly more aged and higher up in the weights Chavez and this totally absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt dictates any match up between them at peak points.

Ok. God i must look silly championing Foreman's cause against Young under slightly (wayyyyyyyyy less different) different circs. Pretty sure you liked my comment on that one tho.

Anyone got anymore info on Spence-Floyd? Sounds interesting.

We have the stories about Walcott being thrown out of Louis's camp after putting him on the seat of his pants.

Of course, Clay vs Ingo was filmed as well, at least in parts.

Norton seems to have gotten the better of an exiled Ali in sparring some time in the late 60's. When Ali came back the next day to set the record straight, Futch ushered Kenny out the back door. Something to that effect.

A 17-year old Tyson got the better of Carl Williams during the first day of sparring, but Williams reportedly paid back with interest the next day.

I remember when this was done once before and there was all kinds of info of Curtis Parker kicking everyone's ### in sparring including a visiting Hearns. Should be in the search engine. Very interesting

Should we discuss the Greb-Dempsey sparring sessions in Bar Harbor?

One of the hardest punches I have seen landed in sparring was by John David Jackson, of all people. He was training Shane Mosley at the time but toying with the idea of a comeback so he was boxing with another guy that he was also training. Jackson was laying on the ropes, slipping punches, bobbing and weaving, when he rolled under a right hand and threw his left. The other guy was trying to come back with a hook and got caught flush. That was the end of the sparring.

Something that hit me later, and that made me laugh a little, was that the shot Jackson landed was virtually the same shot in the same situation that Castro had hit him with.
