yeah compound work outs and isolating exercises for abs traps and neck with additional bicep and tricep if wanted. . .

did you know (which you proberbly dont) holyfield did compounds and isolations as such, when moving from cruiser to heavy and in terms of counter productivaty. . . i.e stamina issues and slower movements, which people associated in and arround boxing assumed was the down fall to brunos failure to win fights he was clearly winning but threw away in the later rounds, he (hollyfield) managed to beat carl lewis in an 800meter race and beat boxers twice his size and took bombs from big hitters (tyson, bowe, lewis and mercer) comfortably head and body which he attributed to his strong neck and strong torso (from isolation neck and ab work outs) and im sure holyfield isnt the only boxer who does/did such weight training exercises who have achieved alot in terms of boxing.

    :hi:

:yep oh and P.S i wont even reply to your ignorant comment about me training as it wasnt relvent to this discusion what were having where im making you look silly :yep

Holyfield already was a boxer, he lifted to go to heavyweight. You can lift 4 times a week if you want, you'll end up being a weight lifter who does some boxing on the side.

There's nothing wrong with weight lifting, just like there's nothing wrong with 15 mile runs. But if you do them 4 times a week, they conflict with actual boxing training because your body needs recovery. Since you seem to lift 4 times a week, perhaps you can tell me what kind of actual boxing training you do, and how much?

You'd be better of punching unless you plan on lifting your opponent.

so you have gone from saying that its counter productive, to saying theres nothing wrong with, doing such things. . . :huh

i never said i lifted weights X amounts of times a week, i just said its more than possible to do it 4 times a week if done correctly and it can be productive, which doesnt make you a weight lifter and part time boxer which you are suggesting, when people like holyfield, tyson (after prison) and ricky hatton (to name a few) added weight training to there boxing work outs and at some point in there Boxing career where elite, top of their game and World champs. . . a far -far way from weight lifter/part time boxer which your suggesting:huh

true holyfield was a boxer who incorporated weight lifting into his training reigmn but he obviously thought that he had to get stronger and add more lean muscle to compete with heavyweights, which he did and produced some of the best heavyweight bouts of modern day history, and if you asked him, as he improved as a boxer since using weights im sure he would say yes.

Your reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired. I said there's nothing wrong with weightlifting, unless you do it 4 times a week. That's simply too much, it will conflict with your boxing training. Please try reading before posting, it's getting annoying.

You're going in circles, so I'll leave it at that.

your logic leaves alot to be desired, you never said "unless you do it 4 times a week" but i guess when your hobbies include the occasional hit to the head ill let it slide, ill carry on including weights in my training regimn regardless.;)

    -edit-

well it never said "unless you do it 4 times a week" before you edited it ;)

    For ****s sake ... :patsch

Only one of those posts was edited, long before you replied (compare the times if you want). And before I edited it the entire sentence about nothing being wrong with weights wasn't there either, you ****ing moron. You just didn't see it because you were foaming from the mouth because I said something about your precious weights.

I clearly stated 4 times a week from the beginning of this thread. You even included it in some of your replies. Acting like it wasn't there is a bit of a cop out.

    Now please, **** off.

wow you sound really aggressive, i hope i never get in the ring with you :bbb is your ring name 'RAGING' RDJ BY ANY CHANCE HAHAHA :rofl

i guess you find body weight exercises useless too huh?

regardless of anything you say or said or edited, i still believe weight training "EVEN IF SOME ONE WANTS TO DO IT 4 TIMES" a week can be productive and nothing will change my opinion on this, especially when so many great champions have incorporated it into their regimn i find it hard not too :thumbsup

    /discussion.

try some soccer. its great for aerobic capacity and its less monotonous than going on a long jog, although you get pretty much the same result.

In door soccer with a small ball helps with footwork really well. I trained with Kostya Tszyu for a few years and at least once a week we went downstairs to the Bball court and played soccer for an hour. I found it worked wonder.

  12. Yeah ive been playing soccer to improve boxing performance and i have to agree that it does do wonders for the footwork and balance. infact my buddy who's a pro soccer player has been training at the gym with me for improvements in soccer.
