im assuming we all agree may v pac is the biggest fight in history.

mainly because of social and difital media has made the world a smaller place so we can do things like go on forums and discuss.

but before this, what was the most hyped fight? and allowing for technological inflation, what other fights (had they had the kind of benefits that we have of bringing the fans from around the world to discuss online) would have had the kind of anticipation of floyd v pac?

Ali Frazier 1 is the biggest fight in history. Two undefeated heavyweight champs fighting each other.

How about Joe Louis/Max Schmeling? I don't think any fight was bigger than that one.

If I had to pick one in recent years, I would definetly have to go with DLH/Mayweather.

I dont see why your lol'ing. Aside from the big heavyweight fights involving Ali it most certainly is the biggest fight in history, if it happens within the next 8 months or so.

    In the last twenty years.

    Its probably Oscar-Tito.

Two undefeated studs in their prime coming of two good wins(Tito over Whitaker and Oscar over Quartey) they couldnt have faced each other at a better point in their careers,,the hype was so big they called it the fight of the millenium(ended up being the dud of the millenium) it was also Bob arum vs Don King, i believe that if they had 24/7 back then that this fight would still hold the record for ppv buys till this day.

Holmes v Cooney comes to mind. Massive fight that put heavyweight boxing back on the map - got the casual fans back in there.

You have to remember heavyweights were going through a little bit of a lull post-Ali (in fact people were saying the heavyweight division was dying). The way Don King exploited the "great white hope" behind the scenes was kind of despicable, but it made everyone a ton of money (in fact it broke records and made the most amount of money up until that time).

    Inspired a movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116448/
