and lame attempts to pick at someones career because they are insecure about their favorite fighters resume... why on earth would someone claim ward ducked bute? did ward need that ibf title to be known as the man at 168? he did not...absolutely not.... bute has been exposed....if bute were on wards resume hed receive 0 credit for it now u saw a rusty, inactive ward, easily handle barrera a sharp and active ward prob would have shut out bute 12-0 and maybe stopped him bute has been beaten in every step up......sure he can handle the jesse brinkleys of the world( I guess that is a feat since Curtis stevens couldn't)....but that's not much
ward is running...to a p4p showdown with another top 5 p4p fighter ...at 175 in a fight that will define two greats of this generation how many fights does the bumdog and bute have combined against top 5 p4p guys?
Except that Bute called him out prior to the Froch fight, Froch's the one who took it, Ward doesn't get credit for that.
In hindsight it's a bad move as well, if Ward beat him instead of Froch, it would have been a good resume boost.
Ward ducking Bute... It's even funnier using the power of hindsight. I'm not the type of dude that gives ghost wins to fighters (like GGG stans) but in this case... it's almost a given.
I don't think anyone thinks that Bute would have beaten Ward now but then plenty of people did. Lucian should also be commended for making the Froch fight and coming to the UK to do so. At that time he was seen a very dangerous opponent and its not beyond reason to see why Ward may have been wary of the challenge Bute was thought to present. The fact Bute was hugely overhyped is neither here nor there.
