Other than the super six, 2010 has been a colossal letdown

You know, I've been wanting to say this too for a while now. Let's hope some great fights happen later this year or ever this month (Duddy-Chavez jr. FOTY??!!).j/k

Compared to how the last decade of boxing kicked off, this is pretty shitty. We had Barrera-Morales 1,Vargas-Quartey,De La Hoya Mosley 1,Vargas-Trinidad! I mean I know this is a different time with different fighters but ****ing a,come on!

Not really... this year we witness new stars that could be the top dawg for years to come.

Amir Khan - finally fought in the US and dominated malignaggi
Devon Alexander -another newcomer with promising future
    Marcos Maidana- KO artist
    Sergio Martinez- New middleweight king
Andre Dirrell and Andre Ward - we witness another newcomer with a promising future
Adamek -adding talent at heavyweight and could be a future opponents for the klitscko and haye

Martinez-Pavlik FOTY so far. Underdog moving up in weight almost makes Pavlik quit. Good back and forth action. Classic fight.

Perez vs Mares - Great fight between two young undefeated fighters!
AA vs Dirrell - no brainer
Martinez vs Pavlik - A change of guard at middleweight!
Froch vs Kessler - no brainer
Adamek vs Arreola - It was a very important fight for both these contenders and a toss up fight for many people.... the fight wasnt a total stinker and adamek hopefully moves on to better things
Montiel vs Hasegawa - one of the upsets of the year and a stoppage no less in an important showdown
Mayweather vs Mosley - no brainer
Cotto vs Foreman - Cotto comes back from his second loss and his fathers death to beat so so beltholder foreman in a new weightclass and in the first fight at yankee stadium in a long time, ending the night with a classic KO to the body
Alexander vs Urango - Alexander solidifies his status as one of the premier 140lbers with an unexpected KO of the strong Urango in a highlight style KO
Maidana vs Cayo - beatifully brutal plexis shot ends Cayos efforts to stop the Maidana express
Berto vs Quintana - easily overlooked, but was an important showdown between two contenders and hopefully helps set up berto for a big fight near the end of the year if not sooner
Katsidis vs Mitchell - no brainer
Cunningham vs Ross - slick and contested fight between these two class operators... ends with a nasty eyelid cut but the action was nice and a rematch warranted, had its shair of fireworks and the fight was just about to explode.

Not to mention vasquez jr entering the limelight, jamie moore retiring :-(, ect, ect
among the other actual fights we could name.... all to me have made this year far from a letdown, and its not like the year is close to being done. I see this first half as pretty much setting up the second half for some real good fights down the stretch here. Are there are ton of the sports biggest fights not happening due to bull****? Pac vs May, Wlad vs Haye, Alexander vs Bradley to name a few.... damn right. But i am still holding on to hope on the two most important, pac/may and wlad/haye, and all it takes is for one of those to happen and this year skyrockets.

I'd say I'm about in the middle, it was a year of lots of good fights with only a handful of great ones. Martinez-Pavlik, Cotto-foreman, Berto-Quintana, Khan-Maglinaggi, Maidana-Cayo, Alexander-Urango, Arreola-Julio, Adamaek-Arreola, Froch-Kesslar, Dirrel-Abraham, Angulo-Julio, Gamboa-Barros......these were all good entertaining fights, but more importantly, while they weren't all in themselves nail-biting ticket-sell-out sport-changing bouts, they are setting up some great competition soon to be seen as game contenders climb the ranks and the divisions' best are starting to emerge from the elimination process.
