Wards style is not an easier to beat than Kessler's. Not for anybody.

Joe never faced anybody like Ward. Ever.

You're argument is that beating Kessler means Joe would beat Ward easier.

Im out. This is simpleton logic.

Ward has no real power, or at least not "elite" power. That's one of his biggest weaknesses as a fighter.

He also lacks a good chin, or at least an "elite" chin.

These two things, taken together, are why Ward fights in the "mauling" style he does. He fights that way because he has to.

A third reason Ward fights in that 'charging' way is because of his short reach. He can't stand and throw hard shots from the outside against fighters with longer reaches.

They can hit him while Ward can't him them, with his shorter reach. That's part of why Ward has to rush in like he does so much.

Like I say, he's either a troll or he's clueless.

Andre and Bernard do have a lot of similarities, and it was Bernard's clean effective punching, vs Joe's high volume of shots, most of which were ineffective cuffs.

It was quantity vs quality, and Bernard had to play act because he couldn't cope with the pace.

As great as Joe was, he was always easy to hit, especially with right hands.

A guy who had a hard night with Robin Reid and Sakio Bika, and who was dropped by Kabary Salem, Byron Mitchell, Bernard, and a near 40 year old version of Roy, was not easily beating a guy like Andre Ward.

Also, would a guy who defended a WBO title 21 times, with only 5 of those being mandatories, really fight a guy like Andre in his prime?

We're talking here about a guy who after making constant noise about moving up and wanting the best fights out there, decided to stay at SMW in 2003, even though he couldn't fight Ottke and guys like Lacy and Kessler weren't on the scene.

We're talking about a guy who dismissed the likes of Pavlik and Tarver by saying he didn't rate them as they didn't excite him, who fought guys like Branko Sobot and Evans Ashira.

According to Frank W, he was more than happy to fight a guy called Freeman Barr.

There is zero evidence to suggest that Joe would have been happy to have fought Andre.

This site has really gone down hill over the last few years.

I can't help you if you can't see the similarities.

    Agreed.

Hopkins was the master boxer and strategist. With power, power enough to put Calzaghe in real trouble.

Make no mistake, as with Kovalev, BHop (one of my favorite fighters ever) only takes the Calzaghe fight because he truly believed he could beat him. But, as with Kovalev, Hopkins found out the hard way just how good Calzaghe really is.

Calzaghe basically made BHop quit from exhaustion in the fight, which is why BHop was doing the low blow thing.

Hopkins is a supremely conditioned fighter (even at an advanced age) who knows how to pace himself. Calzaghe wore him out with workrate. That's what Joe does.

Now imagine Ward, who has been known to tire later in fights, against Calzaghe. Think of what would happen once Ward started to tire and Calzaghe just began to unload.

As I said earlier, shades of Calzaghe-Lacy. It would be a beatdown.

No idea who Hans is and don't care. The moderators can quickly and easily see I have no relation to some "Hans" person.

    Sakio Bika:

    Similar in height.

    Same reach.

Fights dirty like Andre sometimes does.

    Doesn't possess Andre's skills.

    Doesn't possess Andre's speed.

    Doesn't possess Andre's reflexes/defence.

    Doesn't possess huge power.

    Has been beat 6/7 times.

    Never had a noteworthy win.

Tell us how that fight played out, genius.

Anyone want to tell me who "Hans" is?

I've been around this site since about the time it launched in 2001 I believe it was.

Seen a lot of people, ignored a lot of trolls.

Just don't come on the site as much now because, sadly, the quality of discussion isn't what it once was. Or maybe I'm just getting older and have less tolerance for the foolish. Maybe both.

Don't recall a Hans person but that is probably because I chose to ignore him in my time here.

I'll tell you one more time -- no more attention from me. You're not worth it, and you're not getting it.
