Calzaghe beaten Bika. Bute beaten Bika. Then Ward had a draw with the guy but was saved by his parents who were the judges of the bout, with 120-108 bs cards. I guess this is why Ward ducked Bute, he seen what he did to Bika and he knew he's next.

you've never given evidence to substantiate he pulled out and I guess never will.

so no, noone "remembers" your fantasy, bhop just asked for more money to compensate losing out on the multifight deal ending with DLH. cowardzaghe with hearns worthless wbo title couldn't match that - which he likely planned all along to pull out of just like he did with every other decent fight he lined up over the decade.

Bute would have NEVER beaten Ward - or Calzaghe for that matter - but few can say they'd gauged his level properly pre the Froch fight.

If you look at the Lightning Battle Ship thread you'll see just how high a lot of people were on Bute, not realising his career had at that point flattered to deceive. This isn't to say Ward wasn't wary of Bute at that point, I think he prob overrated him himself a bit too, but realistically there was only ever one winner if that fight came off.

Super Joe maybe, but Ottke?

I keep seeing this "dare to be great" thing thrown around here, what's going on there? Ward had a good run and could look to enhance his legacy if he takes on/beats Kovalev, but he could have already further enhanced it and "dared to be great(er)" had he gone to Canada to take care of Bute, officially cleaning out 168, and then moved up to take on Dawson for that LHW crown. That would have been one hell of a run, but instead he avoided Bute and drained down Dawson. I don't even care that Froch hammered Bute. Triangle theories aside, at the time he was a champ and people wanted to see that fight. I think Ward would have won, but we'll never know. I feel like "daring to be great" involves you leaving home/your comfort zone at some point, but that's just me.

joe did by becoming the first man to fight 40somethings back to back and pretend it was his career high point.

actually it might have been his career highpoint.

sven did by holding the record for number of fights recorded as wins that he lost,.

From hereon out I'm just going to disregard anyone who uses that phrase to try and make that point Loudon. I'd advise you do the same.

Joe never dared to be great.

In my opinion, he would never have signed to fight a guy like Kovakev when he was Andre's age.

As great as he was, he was more than happy to repeatedly defend his lightly regarded WBO belt. When a guy makes 21 defences of a belt like that, where only 5 of those defences were mandatories, you know exactly what his intentions are.

Andre should have fought Bute, but in my opinion, he would have done at some point had Carl not destroyed him.

It's a crying shame that Andre's only fought 4 times in as many years due to injury and contractual disputes.

Let's hope he has a great run at LHW.
