I'll repeat it again. The Reid fight was suspicious, granted, but one fight does not a career make. Ottke's style was actually designed to make big punchers look like foolish amateurs and win rounds, which he did time and time again. So, granting the Reid fight, feel free to give other examples from Ottke's 34 other fights that corraborate.
My opinion is that that article is mostly garbage. To anyone who knows how to score a fight, Ottke won Brewer II, Tate (the stoppage was legit and so was the decision), Markussen, and Mitchell. Brewer I was close but Ottke negated much of Brewer's power and outlanded him cleanly in many rounds. I have no idea who Gabriel DeCrease is, but he clearly can't score a boxing match.
Look, I have no big love fest for Sven Ottke, but I'm a fan, and a lot of the crap posted on here is unfair and posted by people who are just using second hand information. I've seen the Mitchell fight and Ottke clearly won it. The British commentator who always hated Ottke even remarked that Ottke won. Have you seen the fight?? Oh, and yes Ottke beat Glen Johnson. "Schooled" may be strong, but he outboxed him largely and clearly won the majority of rounds. Have you seen that one also?
Ok... So, please don't attack my credibility when you're talking about fights that you have no firsthand experience scoring. I thought it was blatant cheating and a travesty. Reid got ripped off. That doesn't negate Ottke's other legimate performances in my eyes.
Italy might be worse when it comes to decisions:yep One time I saw a guy from Italy get beaten to sh*t by a Polish guy. When the winner (on points) was announced it appeared to be the Italian who looked at his trainer as if to say ''wtf??!!'' :rofl
