Sorry, that's not right at all. Ignorant post. You even seen the fight? There was only 15 seconds left on the clock. Mitchell stumbled and Parris (ex-fighter) gave a RIDICULOUSLY quick hook as a good loyal compatriot. Joe received an ABUNDANCE of Ottke-type support in his career and his career was more similar to Ottke's than not. Joe was also much more equivalent to Ottke's level of talent and athletic ability than RJJ's for example (as some of his more outrageous moronic fanboys like to state). Joe struggled in a multitude of fights and akin to Ottke KO'd nobody except for a bunch of bums, old men, fat guys, and old fat bums (with nearly all of the TKOs occurring pre-Eubank). Joe is incredibly overrated on ESB - and a complete unknown (i.e., a non-entity) for ample and good reason to USA sport fans. Arguing against Ottke is absurd. There isn't some huge difference. Ottke was "okay" while Joe was only somewhat better in the aggregate. Their records are both farces. If Ottke had found a couple 40 year olds to tack on to the end of his ledger he'd essentially be Joe Calzaghe.
Ok, that's fair enough. As long as you don't specifically mention the Glencoffe Johnson fight, which is the clearest 7 rounds to 5 fight in favour of 1 fighter you will EVER see, I can live with that.
Not undefeated his hand got raised every fight and his record says no losses. Where is the debate here
To be fair, a lot of people in Britain think that Robin Reid was robbed by Joe Calzaghe too. I would've given that one to Reid by a couple of rounds. Having said that, the Ottke fight was a ****ing pantomine. After 6 rounds Reid was handing Ottke's ass too him, had him on the canvas twice, totally leading the fight, and the ref just decided to take two points from Reid and threaten Reid with disqualification every time he threw a punch. Reid basically had to stop fighting to avoid being DQ'd. Total disgrace. Even despite this, the first 6 rounds should've got him the fight alone, and despite the point deductions and other bull**** Reid should've won the fight, but the judges all scored it for Ottke by a mile. It was disgraceful watching the German fans cheer for him despite the fact they'd say and watched this travesty take place. Won't be forgotten by many British fans.
