That's what gets me. I've seen some other Ottke fights and thought he actually was pretty good, if boring, and maybe I wouldn't have implicated the man himself had he merely been the recipient of close or poor decisions outside of his control. But against Reid, Ottke continually turns to the ref for help, and thus you have to conclude that he was complicit in the sham. Too bad, because he was good enough to have a legacy for being a good fighter, but obviously now his reputation is forever tainted. Good riddance.
Even though Reid said he lost, straight after the fight? He only ever questioned that decision when he heard afterwards that people actually thought it was close. That is exactly what it was - close. No robbery
That **** is just sad. You'd think they would be ashamed to act in such a manner when it is being televised. It makes me so mad knowing **** like this would probably create all sorts of uproar in other sports but since it is boxing no government, or anyone at all for that matter, will do anything. And yet the US government will sink millions into investigating roids in baseball, because apparently it isn't clear yet if that sport has drug problems. ARRRRGH!
I've never heard that before. Thats an organization refusing to do their job and not caring who knows. No other sport would put up with such transparent corruption.
I agree it was a ****ing disgrace, but the only problem is,they must have known what they were in for,its not as if they could not have known how protected he was at home, and yes maybe not to the level in that fight, but unless he KOed him i fail to see how he could ever have got a points win,and robin and his team must have known that to.
Funny you should mention that, because I was thinking the exact same thing. Had I been Reid, I not only would've clocked the ref, I would've followed that up by dropping my shorts, unleashing a mighty turd on his face, and then declaring the ref the winner by **** Decision. :happy
Wow---lots of the same opinions here. Thanks guys. But I am really interested in hearing about what Ottke had to say or what his corner had to say. Does anyone here remeber any Ottke fans defending this? Thanks
Yeah. Bobo Olson. Another poster (cant remember his name) felt that Reids improper punching technique ment that he deserved the point deductionatsch
German boxing should be left to dwell in its own self-sustaining **** bubble. If Abraham comes out to fight Pavlik it may start to be a turning point but I just don't see that happening. As for Ottke-Reid, I can't even bring myself to watch that fight again as it was so corrupt it turns your stomach.
No I dont think so. Very close fight, and I personally think Reid edged him. But far to close to call it a robbery.
