Just bought tickets to this Friday's fights as the PNW hardly ever seems to get big fights these days. I have only seen a few short clips of Otto Wallin and only one fight of Jermaine Franklin's; are these guys good prospects who have a shot at being competitive in the division?

Wallin is limited and once he loses his 0 will be a decent heavyweight gatekeeper. Similar to a Wach or Dimitrenko. He actually wouldn’t surprise as being a potential Fury opponent in his next fight later this year.

Franklin is similar in that he will likely fight for a world title if promoted right purely down to the lack of US heavyweights and the massive TV war going on in America right now. He’s on the small side to be a champ in my opinion but let’s face it they said that about Ruiz.

He will likely end up having a similar career to the likes of Jennings or Stiverne in my opinion. As it stands at the minute the American heavy that has the best chance of being a contender is Hunter. But both guys are on the up and there is definitely a chance of a KO in the fights the are matched in.

Wallin has.made the rounds as a much sought after sparring partner in recent years. a 6'5 - 6'6 Southpaw at HW is going to be well slight after for sparring. I think any real ambition he has is probably gone but he's not without skill that's for sure. As others have said here his ceiling is probably at European/fringe world level. Might be able to get a title shot/nice payday if he plays his cards right.

As for this fight he should kick Flores ass.... Who as always been totally useless at any real level.

Franklin will obviously run this guy over and look good while doing it but really needs to get his weight down. It doesn't matter much at this level but it will as he steps up.

Wallin will destroy old BJ Flores. A total mismatch.
Franklin vs. Forrest actually could be a very good fight. I saw a bit of Forrest and he's not bad. No top prospect but he has some tools and he's younger & more hungry than the guys Franklin fought so far. I think his two losses vs. Washington and Hunter are not that bad. First, both are durable opponents, especially Hunter is a legit Top 15 HW now and came in as 4-0-0 back in the days vs. Forrest and had great amateur career behind him. Second, those losses were early in his career and from watching them i think he was a bit naive going into those fights with a brawl first attitude (vs. Wasington). Forrest has beaten some pretty decent journeyman recently.

Could be a good fight as Franklin had a few problems against Rydell Booker last time out until Booker's fitness let him down. I don't mind Franklin and think he's a decent prospect who may fall short of world title level, time will tell I guess but yeah he needs to get in better shape and improve his fitness imo.

Wallin has no power for a HW and as has been said earlier, Euro level is about his ceiling. He might get a shot at a World Title as a voluntary challenger but will probably be a top 20-25 fighter at best.

Wallin has a glass jaw and he cuts very easy. He does not have the chin or skin to be a boxer.
