I'm curious to know what in the H. E. double L is Wallin doing fighting a washed up 41 year old who weighed in at a sloppy 267 and has lost 3 of his last 4 fights? Does he think this is the path to a title shot?

He's just keeping active. Whyte and others have avoided him.

But I do agree his promoter could have found him a better journeyman opponent than Booker.

Not best fight but keep active fight.

Wallin should look for a stoppage here, maybe late on. Stoppages gain interest.

Classic stay active fight against a durable and tough journeyman who can box a bit (at least early on when he's fresh).

    Not that bad.

Wallin imo proved that he's willing to fight the best guys when he stepped up to fight Fury and lost his 0 in a competitive battle AND when he was ready to fight Whyte in the UK before Whyte ducked him and pulled out like a chicken.

    I don't blame Wallin here.

Otto Wallin is still a mystery in terms of how good a boxer he is. And that mystery will not be clarified if (when) he beats Rydell Booker.
It will still be a mystery.
Only if Rydell Booker wins, which is unlikely; the mystery will be solved.

Stay active? since his loss to Fury he had 1 fight in 2020 with Travis Kauffman, a UD over Dominic Breazeale in 2021 , a fighter who's 3-3 in his last 6 , and an 8 round decision over something called Kamil Solowoski in Feb. this year. Why is he scheduling 8 rounders? Then he fights this piece of collapsed humanity in Booker? I had hopes for him years ago ,but he's semi retired now..

I imagine it is very hard for his promoters to get anyone in the ring with him. He isnt a big enough name, or will bring enough money for a mid level guy to take an L against.

I disagree. He's still young and he had a massive fight scheduled for October 2021 which fell through because his opponent (Whyte) ducked him and pulled out like a chicken. He also had some problems during the pandemic to get fights because he couldn't travel to the US. So 4 fights between August 2020 and May 2022 aren't bad at all. And his opponents were all solid. Of course no Top 20 guys but name a prospect of his class who fought better guys during the last 24 months.

He might have take on a high risk fight like Hrgovic or Bakole to get a good opponent. He needs to work his way up to a title shot just like they do.

I doubt Wallin can beat Bakole or Hrgovic, both are too much for him and Wallin has Pillow fists, he was unable to knock out Booker...

Gotta keep him away from anyone decent until another big payday is offered, I guess. I really don't get why so many people on here think Wallin is any good. Yeah he took a few rounds off an unmotivated and unfocused Fury who then stepped up and beat him up when he realised Wallin was actually there to fight. But honestly, he's slow, doesn't hit hard and is very basic. He's not awful but he's not top 10 material in my opinion.

I'm not sure that any blame can be placed on him. He was set up to fight Whyte and Whyte pulled out of it. Now if he doesn't set up a match with a good opponent after this, then I'd be upset.

Wallin isn't actually very good, I don't think anyone should be expecting him to make a run at world level.

I would agree if this year was 2004.
