Dave Sands Paul Ferrari Hector Thompson Shannan Taylor Mundine Snr Les Darcy Paul Briggs Actually would be a pretty big list when you think about it
Livingstone Bramble told me he was the hardest hitter he ever faced. Says a fair bit when you look at who Livvy fought.
Actually I was thinking Shannan. Poor bloke aside he had great talent. I thought Glen Kelly may be in the mix also?
I would actually probably say Kevin Kelly over Kunga. Glenn was barely world class and I dont mean barely in a negative way, its just in comparison to most of the division at the time he wasnt really anything special. But in comparison to all our local talent, he was head and shoulders above. Taylor was one the last talents we had I would have called special. Very dangerous fighter focused and in shape at welter.
Not hugely familar with the older guys on th elist but I always felt dissapointed that Briggs didn't achieve more. I guess his kickboxing career mixed with his lifestyle problems. Adamek's proven to be world class fighter but I thought Paul had been a better fighter prior to their encounters, as close as they were, I still feel his best was better than that.
Paul had his shot and couldnt come up with the win, even though he came real close. Adamek continues to prove he was a very legit champ.
Doug Sam went pretty close, losing over 15 rounds to the Korean in Korea. Also on ability & skill Paul Miller, though he never really got much momentum in the pros due to injuries etc, he left some of our more accomplished pros (Briggs, Green ) for dead in sparring.
Troy Waters came so close in stopping Terry Norris in the 2nd rd. If the left hook that he threw & missed by inches had connected, Norris would never have got off the canvas. He struggled to get up as it was but he did & went on to stop Troy in the very next rd. Oh so bloody close.
WBF doesnt count Bent..no way. Actually I started writing this list with Hussy in mind because I saw his name come up. Forgot to add him. To bad for him that he ran into the best flyweight since Too Sharp in Pong and one of the hardest punchers ever at lightfly-fly in Arce. Skinny is my man...Been my fav aussie fighter for quite some time but he fought two lesser guys for titles and was well beaten both times. P4P I rate Hussy a little better.
