It's not really resume. Who has the most skill of the 3 in your opinions. Matthysse has more experience, but out of the guys who are considered ko artists or punchers, who has the most skill of the 3?
Mattysse might have the most power. GGG has more punching variety to penetrate the most skillful defense and has better jab than Kovalev. Kovalev might have the fastest hands and the least proven as far as how good he can be. Who would you view live if they were to fight on the same night? For me GGG brings the most excitement follow by Mattysse and Kovalev.
I think all three are much better, technically, than they get credit for. Picking the best is kind of silly.
I think Kov is the most talented. GGG will probably be looked at as the better fighter because he fights in a more competitive division.
There are interesting statistics plus minus on compuboxonline site. Can't post the link, but here you can get an overall picture of skillset. Plus/minus rating determined by subtracting opponent’s connect pct. from listed fighter’s overall connect pct., which includes jab connect pct. & power punch connect pct. So Matthysse has 31%-24%=+7% rating and is overall on the 15th place. Golovkin is not yet there but he will be after the Stevens fight. Currently he has the following stats: GG - Proksa 34-18 =+16% GG- Ishida 51-19 =+32% GG - Rosado 42-22 =+20% GG - Macklin 50-25 =+25% Which gives us a rating of +23% in average and a second place overall. Mayweather keeps the first place off course. KOvalev is not there yet due to too few rating fights.
What a ******ed way to rate a fighter, props I didn't think I'd see something as dumb as this on a boxing website
Mathysse is a distant third in skill set. His vaunted resume also has tow losses, one to a past prime, chinny fighter, tailor made for him.
that's cause Roy never knew how to fight like that-full throttle all the way. Watch Kovalevs fights thats how he goes. Excellent stamina, and stamina is a keyatsch
I think all three are extremely underrated....................Garcia said that Peterson would win the fight easily, so did Hopkins, yet look what happened. Everyone was claiming the Cleverly would easily outbox and stop Kovalev, but look what happened. GGG has been extremely underrated also, he had 350 amateur fights...........who is the best? They are all the best in their own weight divisions......................
Lol, you shall not judge by the number of posts, dude. Stats don't measure the skillset, but they give a sense of how accurate a boxer is, and how good/bad is his defense, so don't discount them. At least those numbers support an overall perception from the fights. GG had the most difficult fight so far with Proksa followed by Rosado, with easy wins against Ishida and Macklin.
